Cheers for the info people much appreciated! If anyone hears of one of the guns I mentioned drop me a message! Gonna try and see if I can try a few over the next couple of weeks and see what suits cheers!

Just think, you could buy a used Remmie for around £350 and still be able to enter several of those £50 to enter competitions and STILL have change, life is full of bargains !

If it's the one with a gold eagle side plate I bought one new a few years ago which was around the £800 mark, got rid because as well as not being able to shoot auto's well it wouldn't get through a round without 2/3 misfeeds.
Hammy you norty chap.

In an earlier post on cleaning the barrels you said you don't clean your gun or your car engine or your brakes.

You have to clean the Remmie. Wonderfull gun. Funtastic.

Never jams when using 36grm Buffalo loads.

I got one that jams a bit but you get twice as many clays.

Wonderfull value. 130 clays for the price of 100.

Keep on jamming baby.

Being serious. They never jam.

I have had 3 or 4 semi automatics and agree they tend to need cleaning although some Beretta's can go a long way in between but the Remington just wouldn't play whether it was run dry or with a coat of oil even when clean. I would be prepared to clean one every 300-400 rounds but it's no real use anyway because I just don't shoot them well enough.

I bought a Remington Yellow Jacket semi auto .22 a while back and have deliberately not cleaned it yet (at least 800 rounds) to see how long it will go before giving trouble. It cycles CCI and Winchesters with about one FTF with the latter in every hundred, it is just crazy reliable.

I was looking at a "vintage" Miroku trap gun, 30" barrels, Monte Carlo stock, at Stutley Gun near Cambridge. Around £900, and they're looking to sell...
If it's an 800 then be advised parts are hard to come by now and woodwork pretty much non existent.

It can be difficult to determine exactly which model some of the earlier Miroku's are. The only real difference being the springs, the early guns having leaf springs and the latter 800's and early 3800's have coil springs. It gets even harder to identify which is which when you start with 3700, 3750's etc. etc. even Gunsmiths can struggle with identification.

Unfortunately the 800 model doesn't have parts interchangeable with superceding models.

There's many an 800 model gun incorrectly described on Guntrader. Funny how the low grades are always given a higher grade but you never see it vice versa.

I suppose that's because half the people working in gunshops weren't born when these guns were current. A guide to guns similar to those used by motor traders would be helpful.

Ah well that may well be true my good friend BUT you first shot trap with a slingshot :)

Look......just because my mate Golliath got beat by that little squirt David, you have no need to get all ageist on me!!!

They shoot quite high but all relative to the height of the comb and the chubbiness of ones cheeks. I'm in the midlands and you are welcome to try mine

Don't worry Jim it's just a long standing joke amongst us old timers. Take no notice of us we are easily amused ;)
