Very wet day - not good scores

Well as some of you may know, we had some rather inclement weather today on the  south side

Suffice to say they today's 50 bird  straw bailer was pretty poor also .

I didn't blank on any stand, but it was a case of ones and twos   

the birds were consistent, and some were quite deceptive, but could i heck as like string two kills together .

only thing i can put it down to is the fact it was cold wet and very damp

Anyone else find their scores suffer in the rain

I hate shooting in a coat, find it really restricting.  Can't say my score suffered dramatically, but I reckon I dropped at least a couple of targets as a result of not mounting the gun as well as I would have if I'd had my skeet vest on.

Funnily enough though, overcast and dark to start then the sky cleared and the sun came out, but it went feckin chilly. I always seem to get cold more than anyone else and suffer badly.

Was dry when I left the house, drizzled throughout and then persisted down on the short journey home, which was made much longer by the cam belt going on the car.

Small shoot on the Normanhurst Estate near Battle.  They have a 50 bird sporting and DTL every other Sunday.  Just shot the sporting today.  

Stand 1 was a steep going away bird from the almost in front of your feet, followed by a teal that was drifting right to left. 9/10, missed one of the teal over the top.

Stand 2 simultaneous pair of overhead going away targets.  9/10 again.

Stand 3 a slow left/right crosser that was rising steeply, followed on report by a quick left/right quartering taget.  7/10.  Missed three of the quartering birds, think I was high and behind.

Stand 4 up on a platform shooting at a rabbit that that quartered away to the left almost from under your feet, followed on report by a very low quartering target following almost the same path as the rabbit. This one did for me. 4/10. Hit three of the rabbits, but couldn't get on the second bird until the last pair.  Was over the top of all of them, knew I was but could I do anything about it!

Stand 5 left to right looper followed on report by a left to right looping mini. 9/10, missed one of the mini's.

Rain started to get heavier so gave the DTL a miss today.

Used my new Musto coat today normally hate shooting in sleeves but it was fine

We shot Cambridge today and it was a good round spoiled by the constant rain. I reckon most scores were 10 down.

First time this year the winter weather actually kicked in for me and whilst not freezing my hands were cold and i suffered trigger freeze about 10 times today without a doubt the worst case ever which screwed up a good round although it must have been a tough course as i still managed to secure first place in A class and 3rd overall score wise. unusual for the cold to cause me problems and prey its not the start of things to come :fie:

headed up the hill to Auldgirth for the first time in a long while. Plan was to find a sporting clay I could hit consistently and try out a range of cartridges to continue my efforts to find one I get on with as well as the Remingtons. Weather was mainly dry, little wind with a short light shower just after I started. Had the carts sussed pretty quickly on the first stand then worked my way along the stands even  breaking the ones I thought I had no chance on with increasing [SIZE=14.3999996185303px]consistency[/SIZE].  25 DTL - needs a lot of work, round of Skeet - annoying, no worse than the rest of the squad but I was missing singles and breaking the doubles :crazy: ​ 

conclusions reached  

I shoot Sporting much better gun down,  :huh:

I shoot markedly better with the 28" rather than the 30" even though both are set up the same  :dontknow:

JMO Gamebore White Gold Is a nice cart and Eley Olympic Blue is just behind it, Rio and Clever T1 are 'meh!' and very similar.

The van is better for getting to the Auldgirth ground than the L200 was  :scratchhead:  being able to get to the Auldgirth ground saves over an hour compared to the next nearest ground.

Cant wait to play with some Gamebore UT 9 and Drago Skeet next weekend  :biggrin:

Interesting a chap i was shooting with today patterned his olympic blues, he was horrified by the patterns they were throwing on the plate (went to the plate having seen the breaks he was getting)

Drenched by the time I'd finished the 70 bird shoot at Kent Clays. Gun kept snagging on the jacket, rain ran down my neck.

Poor old gun got mud on it and wet through.

Shot better than I have in a long while!

Bryan, drago skeet are great. Shot them at DT and OT as well as skeet. Nice long brass as well if or those of us that like the cartridge too look good !

Sure you'll like hem. Haven't tried UT 9 although i see a lot in the bins on the skeet layouts recently.
