In short, the results for the whole shoot would be nice to see ASAP, by which I mean the night of the shoot. This industry is not great in that respect and some grounds are worse than others. A sporting event where you dont know how you did for days after it finishes.. Only shooting..

Sorry, taking thread off-course and it is an old topic of discussion.. Just a pet one for me..

There are a lot of shoots who need to wise up that their customers expect/deserve results posted online within 24 hours of the shoot finishing!!! To be fair, some shoots are excellent at posting results, some are even online by the time you drive home, I for one appreciate the effort...

Around 10 years ago I got into some discussions on web based shooting software with a couple of shoot managers. The feed back was that ground owners and shoot managers were happy with things as they are and asked:

"Why should I spend money on hardware & software that isn't going to get me any increase in business?"

"Fair enough" said I and forgot about it.

A bit like saying: `why provide a toilet; let them crap in the woods`.

Even 10 years ago, it was a lesser era of technology. I suspect these days it would be very easy to provide this much wanted service of timely score reports..

Grange farm do a great job of putting the winners up on Facebook, Shootclay and twitter same day ...for free!!!

North Ayrshire normally have all the competition results on their web site and the SCTA web site before I get home from a shoot!!! What do they get out of it? Advertising...and one less thing for shooters to moan about ;)

sporting targets also; updated real time with breakdown of scores/stand. Nice to see if you got a draw but werent around at the end. To be fair Allison does send a round robin email with scores etc if you are on here contact list- very comprehensive.

Its a great email sent from a great ground. It doesnt turn up Sunday night though..

I have 2 say that in the past I have asked on here if anyone knew the results from westfield/westonwood on the day of the shoot and Steve has infact posted them on here! I think in general if u ask for them on here he will provide them! If no1 asks he's not to know u are awaiting them!

hi will

why not do what we did in the good old days and stay till the shoot is finished , socialise and wait for prize giving ,normally when i read out scores there are only a handfull of people left and chances are they are not in the money

happy new year to all

I already get 'what time do you call this' when I get in at 1.30pm :))

Seriously though, the best situation will come when the CPSA website is configured so that ground owners (who have already entered the scores onto a PC at the shoot, as Allison does) can upload direct to CPSA site with just a click on Sunday night. It must be coming before long surely. The CPSA site is already so much better than it was a few years ago, with running averages visible and so on.

Just posting winners scores is not enough. People want to see the whole list to see how they did. I think it's safe to assume that the vast majority of shooters want to see the scores!

I would love to stay to the end of more shoots, I love socislising, my cows won't let me, the bandits demand to be milked twice a day, I milk them in the morning before i go, then at 4.30 pm once i get home, if I have to pay a relief milker (if I can find one) it makes it an expensive shoot!?!? :) (happy face added to show I'm not having a go at Steve, I'm not)

Peter Tomlin at CPSA seems very switched on and has moved it on very well. I just wonder if it might be something nasty like a whole new server system (or whatever) to make it possible. Steve, you keep concentrating on the clays and traps; they are the important bit. I just want the icing on the cake! :)
