Wonderful sunny day, cool but not bitter as no wind. Busy and I got caught out not spotting that it started at 9.30 today, so hit the thick of it, but not too bad.

Today exemplified how good Weston Wood can be (and indeed usually is). A great mix of targets, some good long stuff and everything hittable with enough time and vision.

I did a nice job on the obviously harder stuff and really am ashamed for missing about 6 simpler ones including 3 rabbits which I rarely ever struggle with. I let a slow Pull annoy me to miss another two where i was dusting them. My fault, must control the head better. Finished on 86 but missed on a class winning score for the wrong reasons.

Some big scores out there, which is more an indication of how good the entry is rather than the course being straightforward..

It's simply a great shoot.

Yep, can completely agree with this review... great shoot, something for everyone.

I shot well in patches, interspersed with some stupid mistakes.

Started on the pond with a low incomer O/R with a high left to right - only dropped one, which was sort of a pattern - shot the tougher stands pretty well, and then made mistakes on some easier ones.  Straighted the pink crosser with the quartering left to right from the mound, also straighted the battue O/R high left to right midi. Dropped too many shots on overheads today.

Loved the sim pair of right to lefts (edit - thanks Clever) off the tower, only hit one of the higher birds there, a real test. And the rabbit stand was cool - I completely missed the first pair - and then figured it out to finish on 6x8.  I also managed a good straight on the low platform stand - right to left quartering, followed by high left to right looper.

Finished up on 70 - which considering I had a 2, 3, 4, 5 sequence on the card - felt like an OK day of shooting - was leading C-Class when I left - but I think there were a number of good C-Classers out there who will not make the stupid mistakes I did. 97x100 around that track is outstandind.

Saw loads of ShootClay members there - old and new, was a great atmosphere as always.  Was great to see so many members out and about.

You are right Mr Clever... my brain always does that when typing... it's because my left hand starts typing right... and my right hand starts typing left.

Gona make the next 1 !!! Ummming about going to westfeild tomoz as partner back to work and I'm on my own !!! But map says 2 hours 45 mins :s bit far for just a normal shoot

Started on the pond, smoked first 2 pair then droped 3 in the middle . :fie:   Moved round  left to the driven and right to left stand , droped 1 driven here then to the last stand. Moving round this way an over head going away, with a left to right, droped last 2 left to rights here so 6 away on the first 3 stands .

Then went on to only drop 2 all the way round till we got to the last stand, which for us was the walk up stand pink right 2 left, left 2 right midi off of tower. Droped middle 2 midis to finnish on 90 .

Really good shoot today looking forward to the next 1.

If its any help to you, I know that it will take 1 hour and 45 from Gatton Bottom to Westfield if traffic is ok. (I. Think you are near there? Hampshire is out of date on your details?)

Will, change the way you view targets, they are either near or far, todays course was excellent with a few tricky targets that would have caught many of us out today. I probably concentrate harder on the near ones then the far ones, like the rabbit stand, more thought on the close left to right then the first target!!

I simply couldn't believe how much lead the first far rabbit needed. I just chipped the back of one. I thought '20 yards, quite quick, that's 18". Clearly it needed 2.5'. Smashed all the close ones..

There were at least 5 targets there today that were not quite what they seemed, so 86 is a great score. Nick Hendrick must have had 3 weetabix, his 97 was simply stunning and Martin Myers was unlucky as I thought his 96 was the winning score. Great course though, very glad we went - just wish we had a chance to shoot the pool shoot, we waited 90 mins and there always semed to be 2 squads to go!!

Yes it is living by haywards Heath now! Hmm so takes me 30 mins to get to Gatton bottom so 2 hours and 15 to get there hmmm any one else going up there tomoz?

Another great shoot, and again huge frustration ! At least I am enjoying it now and not getting really wound up, just wish my form would return a little quicker than it is. Decided to shoot the pool first as a warm up and was good with a 20, all first barrel on the singles. Then switched and changed shooting the stands in no real order. Did well on the raised platform and the furthest stand to the right straight in them both. My two problem stands which in my head are inexcusable were rabbit 2ex 8 and sim pair r-l as I didn't hit a pair ending on a 4. For me this spoilt a good card in my book finishing on a 77. I'll keep at it Asa it seems to be coming back but I can't understand why most of my misses are in front? Work that out

Thanks to all the team for another fantastic shoot( never seen Steve move so fast up a set of scaffolding to fill traps, sooner you than me!)

Late arrival here after dropping the children off.
Lainy and I were entry 175/176 so lots through today.
Great for Steve and Ally.
I carded 72 which after last weeks very below par attempt at Westfield was pleasing.
Really enjoyed the layout. Straighted a few dropped a few.
Churchills on the 2nd and RBSS on the 3rd.
With game days thrown in for good measure.

Cheers Matt. Yes some were deceptive. I missed three of the l-r on the furthest away stand (past the wooden platform area, right at the dead end). I was first up, nobody to watch and just saw it as a bigger job than it was. I was double the lead it needed. Annoying as I hit all the high loopers with it. That sort of day..
The 25 bird pool is not great for getting shooters through.. Either because its popular or just slow per person.. Steve will know..
