This week it's Glenmorangie original. Other weeks it can be a Macallan - one of the older ones.

A perennial favourite is Laphroaig, Quarter Cask or otherwise. We always bring a bottle of that back from Gibraltar.

My wife buys me Scotch so I have no excuse for drinking her brandy. I have no idea why she thinks I will do that, but I find it's better that she believes it.

But like others I'm always ready to taste and learn.

I don't buy single malt. Just the cheap stuff. £9.99 a bottle from aldi it has exactly the same effect. A bit like cartridges really.

the difference is quality control ?

does malt have antimony and if so what %

If you want something different then try Bains Cape Mountain whisky. Single grain, made in the South African Bainskloof area and voted the worlds best single grain tipple about 5 years ago. Excellent stuff. Nikka from Japan is pretty smooth and very obviously different. There are some cracking blends about, think I mentioned my lad buying me a bottle of Johnnie blue for Christmas. Lad can do no wrong until at least my birthday in June!

oh bollox, ran out of scotch and now on brandy.

just saying

and its not even good brandy. Its some shiiite the Mrs has in stock for brandy and hot chocolate. Oh well, fecck it I will drink it anyway.

Black bush is incredible bang for buck.

The 1608 anniversary edition Bushmills is great.

Atm I have a rather good Ledaig and a Fettercairn that's very drinkable.

Old pulteny is a decent supermarket punt.

Lagavullin
Had a drink of the 25yr. (I wasn't paying)

Was pretty good, but wasn't the knock out I expected.

just found out mixing scotch and brandy is not a good idea, my head hurts.

although it could be from being woken up at 5-30am by a three and a seven year old ? looking after friends children for 48hrs is ok cos you can give them back. Normal service has been resumed.
