AS THE TITLE SAYS, hard one for me to choose,as i enjoy them all,but 3rd would be a good day over the pigeon deeks, 2nd would probabley be a tie between evening duck flighting over inland lakes, thats wild duck not purpose bred ducks, and high driven pheasants and 1st though this maybe because i don't do it that often anymore would be probably geese over decoys, the noise and excitment of all those geese dropping into the deeks is unbelievable but it can also be one of the most frustrating. I know thats four but i couldn't choose.

For me it has to be very high Partridge first. Woodcock second. High Pheasants third. And pigeon Fourth. All shot with friends who are competent in those genres.

Pigeon over decoys and flight line, Pheasants, Lamping Rabbits and Mr fox /wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-wink.gif... been brought up on these three and my Grandfather used to be a Huntsman ( with hounds  & Horse's) back in the good old days ! Rob

To be honest i've only shot high partrige once and this was on a mixed pheasant and partridge shoot, apart from odd ones on pheasant shoots,i,ve been on several partridge days including a well known cornwall shoot last year but sadly just can't find high ones, found it very frustrating seeing them coming off game crops way up but by the time they got to the gun line they were mostly 20 yards up,fast mind but put me completely off, don,t get me wrong i'm not saying they don't exist, they obviously do, it's just the one's i've been to were very disapointing,so i'm sticking to pheasants from now on.

You are lucky to get high Partridge , we find Partridge hard work here in Hampshire ... although we do rear and sell a fair few thousand .

1 bolted rabbits with ferrets or dogs first,2 pigeons either decoyed or coming to roost, 3 woodcock, duck flighting at night is very close to the woodcock though

Yes i must admit, used to do a lot of shooting over ferrets, very exiting till the spade had to come out /wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-frown.gif  saying that the rabbits are not about now like they used to round here,a few years back in 3 days we ferreted,73,53 and 49 rabbits and that was without any guns, just nets, longnets and lurchers.

My first love is pigeon, preferably over decoys as your own skill can make or break the day besides the shooting but game wise I've shot duck, pheasants and partridges but prefer the latter. They don't have to be literally high above my head as long as they're far enough to make a satisfying shot with an unspoilt look after the retrieve.

They are all brilliant,I've had all my best days on all the aforementioned/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-laugh.gif/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-laugh.gif

love pigeons, decoying or roosting and just generally having a mooch around, pheasant, partridge and ducks are fun but would really like to shoot a goose. Only ever shot at 1 and missed the damn thing/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-cry.gif/wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-cry.gif  I have a week off just before xmas so shall be down by the river trying to bag me one!Thats about the only thing not in the trophy cabinet apart from grouse. Having a crack at Deer Stalking is on the to do before I snuff it list too

Would be pigeons every time for me! Am going on a few driven days and have been taken on a few in the past but for me pigeons win hands down!! Am making an effort over winter to do some this year!

Thats one thing i,ve never shot a Grouse, never raised a gun to one,had a chance to in scotland but they were scarce in this particular area and they were trying to let numbers build up ,keeper said shoot one if you want £100 saw a couple as we walked up to the flight ponds but didn't bother.

it has to be Woodcock for me - nothin for me compares, I like duck flightin wild ducks, Grouse are great huntin and shootin but dam hard work if you have to walk to the moors to find them, then huntin wild pheasants, I've only shot a few partridge in my time but they've all been walkin up, I've only not shot a wild goose so I'll have to get on the ball there, when I mean wild I mean the ones on the mountain lakes that take a hours good walkin to get to. I love shootin pigeons and crows and mags too and squirrels too come to think of it but only at 60 yards + high /wp-content/forum-smileys/sf-wink.gif Nige

Oh yes I forgot squirrels ....... Great sport tree rats . Also I forgot rats..... Great sport with them. Have great fun when it is dusk and they are after the bird feeders. Got one with the sh*t shovel once when it jumped out of the tree at me...... The quick movement in the shaddows scared me sh*tless and I just whalloped it quick after an 'in off' on my chest. It went about 20 yds. You would think I was in the Yankee League......... Hilarious !!!!!!In the feed bays of the stable as well is another good catch area....... long handle shovel is better then :))))))
