Why the need to use game cartridges at a clay ground!!!

There were some 6/30's in the buckets at paddock wood today (not mine) have to say it's the first visit there for me, was suitably impressed with the setup.
I'm amazed that Gill hadn't picked up on that.  I've seen her stand outside their building and notice that someone down the other end of the ground is shooting oversized cartridges just because of the sound.

As you say, nice set-up.  Only downside is that the targets rarely change.  I tend to use it just to practice a few of the harder targets, mainly the various tower birds and the very rapid battue at the far end.

Well as a Ground owner you should have also pointed out that is against CPSA rules to use a gun with a sling or strap attached!

BUT how many do we see at numerous grounds all over the country.

Yet another example of people not knowing the rules , but more importantly NOT CARING about rules.
I've seen that and it just makes me wonder why?  They are not disabled people which is the only occasion a ref can make a decision as to whether they can have the sling/strap or not. The thing is it looks so awkward you would think they wouldn't want it on there.

It's because the bloke is a real hunter. In fact his nickname is Big Hunt. Well I think so, I overheard somebody say that but couldn't hear clearly..

His uncle is Wayne Kerr.
Wasn't there an actual shooter called Wayne Kerr back in the day who used to get extremely distressed when people took the p out of his name and actually had to be held back sometimes from physically assaulting said jester.

You would expect him not to give a toss really.. And keep a tight grip on his head.

Not heard of him.  There was a UKIP candidate standing for a position on a local council oop north somewhere called that though.

I changed my name by deed Poll from Isaac Hunt, maybe just a little thing to some of you .

Ok, genuine true and real: I met a girl who had an American mum, who felt it was fine to name her Randy. The family name, middle eastern, was Mansuka. Ouch..

But back on subject, although if we are talking discipline specific we must use the correct cartridge, I do not find it a real issue to use Game cartridges if the Ground is safe to do so and they do not have pending noise issues.

Doveridge as a case study, they actively run a Gameshoot on the ground , the have a High Tower and specifically promote  its use for Game shooters , so where is the real issues with customers shooting their preferred Game load (Risk assessment allowing of course , which it could at Doveridge).

It makes a bit of a nonsense to go and practice High Tower clays with 28gram cartridges and then shoot high  pheasants with something having totally different performance characteristics

I find no difference between practicing high clays with 28g 7s and blatting real pheasants with 6/32s, don't find the need to practice with game cartridges.

Mike maybe you don't worry about scores or ratios?

12-1 may be acceptable at Whitfield Pheasants, but 9 ex 100 at Hodnet certainly isn't.

There can be noticable difference in some cartridge performance .

You are right, I am not too bothered about scores/ratios, but I am on 3-1 for my pheasants without practicing with clear pigeons so am happy enough.

I can report this was all in my head and in fact it was not a shooter but someone Tony worked with whose name was Wayne King and he used to get extremely agitated if people took the p out of his name.  He apparently threw a chair at a co-worker one time and had to be held back.  Of course this did not deter them at all from messing about with him.
