My dt10x is a very heavy version of the gun and recoil is minimal although I do use smooth carts...fblaks
Exactly! If your struggling with picking up the equivalent of 4 bags of sugar, it's time to hit the gym!

Got to be a wind up surely? just dismissed 95% of everyday winning competition shotguns !

If you want something light and minimal recoil with no fussing buy an auto with an adjustable stock.
No not a wind up,

Just want to be sure and happy before i drop a large wedge on my gun,

As i said ive got a garage full of "The ones"  to buy so to speak,  of which most are languishing in the garage, used a few times and never again.

I'll go and and have a look at all the options tommorow

Indeed it may be, but with a prolapsed C4/5, heavy lifting is not reccomended  :(

Hence my unique requirements ....

I shot with a selection of guns a few weeks ago,  the best of the bunch was the 525,  nicley balanced and low recoil..

So i know all the individual components  are out there, its just finding one that suits me

Mart :)

Mart, recoil is largely down to cartridge choice, in all seriousness if you are that unique in your requirement then you should at least try a semi- auto Beretta 390/391 they are proven competition guns, fairly light weight and recoil wise especially with a 24g shell is virtually non- existent.

I'll certainly bear it in mind,   at the moment,  I'm looking for OU, but may get a Semi as a plan B so to speak.

I'll let you know how i get on :)

If you do get a semi auto pick up the empties when you are finished! Lazy bastard at our shoot last weekend left his crap lying around all over the place when he was finished! :)

If you have not seen a good coach yet, then I recommend seeing one before you buy anything at all! It could save you a lot of time and money!

And don't forget the "mental" aspect of choosing a gun also. If you are stood on the stand "thinking" about if you made the right choice or not, it won't help at all.

I know it sounds daft to some people, but opening the cabinet and smiling as you collect the "old girl" for a day out shooting is a bit of the battle in my opinion  :spiteful:

Like lifting up the garage door and a grin appearing as you see your MV Agusta in the corner begging to be ridden on a hot summers day. It's not quite the same as an ER-5 (to me of course).

You have to "like" the gun also is what I am saying,  after all that waffle

Wez.

Without a shadow of a doubt,  :)

Your mental state of mind is prpbably the the most significant influence on the shot.

When i was doing archery, we shot a friendly with members of the GB olympic squad,

we were discussing how they approached things, and one of them said about mental attitude.

When your mental approach and focus is right, and having a good day, the gold is like a bucket at 80 yds, no matter what you do, it goes in

When your having a bad day, its like a coke can, nothing wants to go in .

Now to put that into perspective.

The gold spot on a Fita target face is 4.76" accross or 12.1cm.    At 80 yds, its not very big at all ;)

At indoor distances 20yd the 10 ring (outer gold) is 60mm across, - you cant see the inner at that distance --   (inner gold - for compounds 30mm accross)

when 2 archers are shooting an end  - 3 arrows each, it can get rather crowded in the gold!!

Surely worth a phone call before setting off to ensure its still available or put down a refundable deposit to take it off sale until you have seen it?

You have Discounted dt10 because of recoil !

Very well balanced proven winning gun with very little recoil unless it doesnt fit.

Here I go again but I mean this in a nice way  :) Felt recoil can surely only be put down to stance, gun mount, cartridge, gun fit, possibly barrel dimension and choke and gun weight. It surprised me when you said you did not get on with the heavy gun because of recoil, a heavy gun if fitting properly will recoil less, equal and opposite reactions etc. Assuming gun weight as the greatest variable the heavier the gun the less recoil you should feel, the DT10 is a nine pounder!  The Mk38, Browning (not the Cynergy!) or Beretta should be great!
