winter vest

Tried a few jackets on yesterday ie musto but as i suspected i could not get used to shooting in a jacket after nearly 30 yrs of not doing. Anyway thinking now of a new trap vest for winter either a thick cotton type thingie or fleece the objective is to keep my lower back warm so as not to set my sciatica off on cold shooting days. So looking for reccomendation of a suitable one. Would prefer to be RH Specific as dont like the look of ambidextrous style but not an essential requirement. Any ideas ?

when its cold my lower back also plays up, I use a neoprene back support from argos under my jumper keeps it nice and toasty

i go with ice breaker ski thermals thin and warm come in short or long sleaves .

I wear thermal sports top, microfibre fleece and a musto shooting vest nice and warm - plus of course a good warm jacket over the top, I will take the jacket off before shooting. It will be a good test at Fauxdegla next week sure to be cold

With fabric technology moving on al the time, the trick is two use several thin layers, followed by your vest, so you don't feel restricted.

As has been said, a good set of thermals, close fitting to start with...one or two pairs of socks.

Then another thin "Baselayer" etc, then an appropriate fleece, then your shooting vest, with a coat for between stands etc as required.

If you look in the other similar thread about Musto Jackets, I think Admin linked to some a site that does this sort of stuff.

Musto do the same as the jacket in a shooting vest. I have one with mesh lining. I don't know if they do one with a fleece lining. Has a shoulder pad. It is universal though for left or right handers.

Hi Ian, tried Musto jackets at Sealand on Sat, medium too small and large to big so still looking.

Yep I tried the musto but no way could I shoot with a jacket on. Gonna look properly at the fleece od moleskin type vests on sat.
