Seems odd to me to make a discipline easier. It you can't accomodate 45º then you can't put it on, Shirley?

Rule originates in france, home of ABT. Fédération Française de Ball Trap (FFBT}

I havent shot ABT at the new settings and am interested in shooters views who have shot it.

Not sure I am convinced that making it easier is the way to go.

Hi Ian, we've shot it this way a few times now and it's as described earlier. Angles are DTL, in any headwind the targets are springing teal. This is how ABT will be now. I went over to Nottingham last week to check out for the Selection shoot coming up. Acoustics are Canterbury but on the layout I shot were no trouble. There are no tables for the shooters' equipment yet and there is a danger of getting wet. Nice friendly admin even though Julesy had taken the week off.

Hi Fred i trust you are well.

Do you find the targets easier, harder or just different. Have you shot the abt at sealand is it any good, new angles on yet or not ?

The angles are wider than dtl with the addition of elevation changes. I personally found it enjoyable but def easier than the old fast 45deg flyers!

Having shot abt for 26yrs this sounds like it may take some getting used to. I do hope that it Doesnt prove to be too easy.

Hi Ian, as Stu says they should be wider than DTL but you wouldn't think so, speeds are the same as OT now so when they go up, they go up. and are wind affected. We can look at Sealand saturday if you want.

And to your second reply. No it's not easy, just different. More like 45deg up than 45deg across.

Fred

yes i would like us to have a look at them on sat. I want to knuckle down to abt again with a view to doing the regional and English selections next year. Perhaps we could have a friendly word with archie and get them set right if there not Allready.

The 500 targets I've seen under the new system have been won with 93/92% maybe we were just unlucky with the winds. Perhaps a 4mt hoop with the trap 1m underground is a bit too steep. At least with a 45deg crosser the target is still above the gun when you've fired, not under it..

ABT should serve as a stepping stone to UT, OT from DTL. Less speed would have done that rather than less angle.

Hi all, personably I liked ABT as it was, think if anything they should have varied DTL by either increasing speed or angles and introducing the walking man system (to relieve the boredom) and get it nearer to the international disciplines.

Fred / Ian, will join you on Sat. for some ABT if on. Al.

Now that the new scheme has been in for quite a while (even though I have shot ABT recently that wasnt new scheme IMO) I was wondering what everyones thoughts were. ie..

easier

harder

same

I havent shot a lot of it this season so not really in a position to comment however I think once we all get used to it it may be easier but time will tell as scores so far have been lower. Be interesting to see what the cutoffs will be in a few weeks.

So are we saying no more grass cutter hard left/right birds? If so is it still ABT? I have not shot ABT since about 2003 I guess, so is it that much different/better then?

If so is it still ABT?
Exactly, no low birds but higher ones are even higher, left right targets not as extreme but target speed increased to near OT.

Scores seem to be down so lots of flok not used to it yet. Cant see what was wrong with original ABT (80s - 90s) before they started messing with it.
