I've had a Remington 1100 Trap, a Teknys and one of the very early 390's with the square actions, couldn't shoot any of them to within 5 clays of my O/U scores consistently. Clangy, fiddly, not entirely reliable, difficult to clean, one choke, flames in your eye socket................and they kick just as much being too light in general.

I have a Beretta A400 Excel, it's very easy to shoot, I like the sight picture, I've balanced it and it now weighs 8lbs but feels much less, no jams, no misfires, easy to clean compared to earlier types of autos.

I shoot it well and I like it :)

except the remington, probably the softest shooting gun ever!

Off the shelf with no mods I agree, but mine was also the least reliable of those mentioned. It would jam two or three times a round or more, people have since said I should have bedded it in with magnum loads.

Recently bought a Benelli Supersport and absolutely love it.

30" barrel. Very pointable and despite it's light weight it swings well. Also well balanced between the hands.

I'd love to try it on the pheasant shoot, but know it will not be allowed! :frown:

Pheasant shoot? How dare you even consider anything less than a Purdey or H&H old boy !! :.:

Got a Versamax which will load anything in any order, but it does have a few problems. Loose forend, stock comes loose, firing pin retaining pin drops out and the most pathetic plastic gun case that you ever did see. Most problems were fixed very quickly by the armourers oop north and have had no real problems since. I suspect that they are made in Italy as the Benelli and Remington (other than the odd part) are identical in construction with the exception that the Remmie is a 3 1/2" Magnum. Softest shooting gun I have ever fired.

I think Remingtons 105CTI also ejects the spent cartridge downwards, not 100% on that though Les, I had a UGB for about a year it had a few issues that eventually got ironed out! The later models may be more reliable it didn't like 24g, but when it was working it was great.

Aye, not certain either if that's the model - but Remy do indeed make a "bottom" ejecting auto.
