My car suffered a similar mishap at a ground, got covered it bits of clay.

It polished up OK, but I was pissed at first . . .

Blimey! thanks for all the sympathy and suggestions, some of which I will investigate further including seeking a professional.

To make matters worse my car was also struck in three places by large clay fragments so I have about 30 deep chips in the white paint. As I was parked in the car park I'd like to thank the pillock that set the nearest stand up so the broken clays fell into the car park. Car was parked there for no more than five minutes before someone told me about it but damage already done. Numerous other cars suffered the same fate.

Couple of signs (disclaimers denying any responsibility for damage caused by falling clays) means the ground is in the clear.

All in all a really Shiite day.

I sympathise with you on that one,

I did a shoot in august and on the last stand,m it was a pair of  driven incomers, the LH bird was over a field, but the RH bird

bordered the hedge into the car park

If you hit it early, you sprayed the corner of the ca park with clay fragments,  however  leave it late and low, and potentially i could

see a car getting a few stray pellets Ouch!

Ive had spent shot bounce off the roof of the car on the way into Southdowns, as you come over the top of the downs,

No damage done luckily, but that would be an interesting conversation with  your insurance company

Greg, trust me, give it to a good stock man to sort it and I doubt if it will even be visible once its finished! I've seen some horrible gouges totally sorted by proper stock makers, not sure how they do it...but they do do it!!!

well if you would get a clapped out van like mine you'd appreciate the odd bit of clay dislodging some of the rust,  couple more dinks add a bit more street cred in a grungy sort of way  :spiteful:

I'm not finding the street in your avatar

what kinda cred was that?  pasture cred?

But putting all that to one side how did you shoot?

Feel for you, hate it when you look after your gun and something like that happens! I recon filler is the best option, it will never be the same but it will help you forget it!

Cheers OB. Just one of those things I guess. Could have been a lot worse as I wasn't wearing glasses at the time!

It'll get repaired..eventually :)

That happens to me a lot. At just about 5ft my face seems to be in line with their gun over the shoulder. I also attract shot regularly and it has become a joke in our household and I had to dig a tiny bit of clay which had buried itself in my arm and healed over, I obviously had missed some when it fell on me.

Sian, I can sympathise.

I'm 5'10" and got whacked in the face yesterday by the stock of the guy in front of me in the clubhouse: he swung it (in a slip) onto his shoulder with a flourish and I guess the shoulder strap was a little long as I was a couple of feet from him and it caught me on the shoulder. On feeling the impact his opening gambit was to the effect of "watch out you *****", but he quickly stopped when he saw the trickle of blood on my face. He couldn't have been more apologetic after that, even as I tried to explain that I was in the clubhouse to wash off the blood after getting hit in the face by a chunk of clay and that he hasn't caused the blood.

For once I was wearing a baseball cap (I hate wearing headgear) and glasses, but that chunk just caught me near the temple between the frame of the glasses and the visor of the cap. No idea where it came from: I had just hit the first clay of a sim pair and was about to pull the trigger on the second when something stung me in the face. Thankfully as I flinched my finger moved away from the trigger... Gun remained pointing downrange, but it would have been an uncontrolled discharge. Small cut, more shocked than hurt, and without rethinking the entire layout of the place I don't know how it could have been prevented. More worrying is what could have happened if I hadn't got my finger away from the trigger.
