Sat in the clubhouse here at Fauxdegla with a couple of hours to kill before embarking on the British Open Sportrap so I though I'd kick this topic off and let people share their thoughts of the British Opens.
I shot the Sporting this morning at 9am and we were fortunate enough to be blessed with a dry, relatively wind free day. The 120 bird Sporting course comprises of fifteen stands of four pairs apiece with every target there to be hit. Our squad started our journey on stand 1; a report pair of a looper followed by a quartering away high target. Not a bad place to start and boosted by the fact that I straightened it.
Twelve of the fifteen stands are steady with the remaining three needing a bit of additional resolve in particular stand 6; a crossing midi followed by a going away mini on report, stand eleven; a going away chondelle followed by a report rising target at a bit of distance. The four or five stands along the top ridge can be affected by the sun, so if you're shooiting in fair weather ensure that you take some darker glasses just incase
All in all a very fair course. No rabbit or driven clays featured but still enjoyable to shoot. I finished on 95 ex.120 so 79.1%, just shy of my current sporting average.
Only just over an hour to go until the Sportrap!
Good luck to any ShootClayers shooting either British over the remaining days!
