I have got my excuse for the British Open, the top 3 were left handed, clearly the course was biased to left handed shooters, even my squad had one of them, he beat me and he is crap, they were everywhere.

Blooming left handed stands and possessed by the devil shooters... :p :p :p

Good point, plus they could hide behind extended ribs to block the sun out on the ridge ( early on at least), us right handers had to use our left hands to shield the sun and shoot one handed, not that I am suggesting such show boating is big or clever ;-)

Must remember that for the weekend as will be handy to explain the empty pockets again!

Left handers (devils) and AAA should all shoot on the sunday at what ever time they like,if it's raining they can wait,if the wind blows they can wait, but charge the bastards another £25 .Why can't we have at least 3 target veters?working as one.On a serious note??

Your just jealous because all the cool kids are left handed :)

Def a good idea on a team of course setters as opposed to just one, then they can share the blame when it all goes wrong

Well i was allways worried about this ground no probs with any thing other than the weather so much change in conditions over a short time.Shot there at the fitasc, one target was 30yrd next 60yrd named guns got the benifit of the doubt rest of use had to get on with it?not what a BO is about.Very easay to say hard to do,i think it's best be safe rather than sorry.Give to a ground where these probs.don't come in to play.Same people are gona win,but most will enjoy(Fuzzy might even win C class)

Fuzz would need to beat me for c class.......well maybe not, I will be b class next year!!!

Elvis, Its the same old problem. Why do they put floating targets on the top of a f---ing mountain. All they had to do with stand 14 is have a driven over your left shoulder and a teal or something going away with some mph on it. Its not friggin rocket science. Same with 12. Keep the dolly teal, but have something with some power on it curling across the landscape. I`m starting to spill my vino now, shaking with rage the more I think about it.

Its not a 'sporting' ground , the lay of the land and lack of interest by the ' Owner ' means its always going to be nothing more than a lackluster boring sporting shoot + wind effected on certain days .

It wont be there again anyway

Fingers crossed Doveridge or Hodnet show interest in one of the big sporting comps next year

Don't really see how you can accuse Mike Faux of a "lack of interest"

Are the grapes a bit sour? :yell:

Since we have been going to Fauxdegla, under mikes ownership, he has put nothing but effort into his shoots!

If we all stop for a minute and reflect how we got on at Fauxdegla, I think the biggest gripe would be that the targets were not of the best quality???

Mike Faux didn't set the targets! The targets were set using very little thought for the effects of the elements and the terrain.

But they were all there each day to be shot by everyone. I made a complete hash up of the day, all my fault, not got one complaint about the ground or the event at all. Everything bad was my own doing, everything good was thanks to Mike Faux, his wife, his staff, and the referees.

Here is an idea for us to chew on !

Why not have the Championships contested over let's say three shoots, Grimsthorpe, Hodnet, Westfield or Longridge or any other known good shoot grounds, that would give everyone a chance to shoot to the best of their ability, rather than having a one off bad or good day and the really good consistent champion would shine through.

Racing Post,

What's the background to this post? Why is it not a "sporting" ground, because they also hold trap & skeet comps? by definition they hold registered sporting shoots so it's a sporting ground.

The lay of the land, I would of thought that the terrain would make it ideal to show challenging, interesting and different targets.

Lack of interest by the "Owner". Wtf does that mean. A throwaway remark that is both offensive and untrue.

Lacklustre & boring. Each to his/her own, not my opinion nor that of many other. Are you making this judgment on your personal experience of the BO or of other registered shoots? As your name does not appear on either the CPSA or WCTSA as a member it would appear that you are making this damning assertion with little knowledge of either the ground or the sport. Unless of course you have registered on here under a different name?

Mr Potter

If you did that then you might as well hand the trophy over to any of 5 people.

At least in the current format if you have a good day at the office you could be champion!

Glen.

Name doesn't appear on the results of Sporting or Sportrap either so he didn't even shoot the thing :.:

Sounds like a bit of axe-grinding that hasn't got much to do with the British Open

Glen,

Exactly, we would hand the trophy over to the most consistent shooter who had done all the qualifiers and shot to the best of their ability on separate occasions, not just a one off. Plus hopefully it would stop the moans of 'northern/southern/midland specialist, it was windy on my day etc., etc.,'

I would think it would be a logistical nightmare trying to set up three or more championship rounds for one title.
