I misunderstood that, for which I apologise. I understood that she ALREADY had  a Summit and it was YOU  that was considering buying the same, after trying her gun !
No worries and no apology needed, I was tired and a bit ratty when I responded so I think it is myself who should apologize. I am very hopeful the Summit will give her the chance to enjoy the sport again so fingers crossed.

Thank you for that. I would add that the Isis green pad was one of the better shooting gizmo's that I have bought and it certainly worked for me.

Hmmm

I should explain that my wife has a condition that causes severe head pain when she uses her Browning even with 21gr loads, it is an issue that has caused great frustration and upset for a number of months. The whole point of this test was to find a gun that was not too heavy but heavy enough to allow her to shoot without the pain, hence the 32'' trap gun in question producing low recoil as she doesn't like semi autos which was another possibility and lets face it, neither does anyone else on a trap layout.

Believe me it is not fun to watch someone try to enjoy the sport and be in tears with pain after 10 - 15 shots. If YOU were in the same boat and your beloved sport may have to be given up due to the condition, wouldn't you try to find a suitable formula. The Summit allowed her to shoot three rounds of DTL back to back using 21gr cartridges without pain, so in short it is NOT 'new gun syndrome'.

I asked for thoughts on the gun as I have no real knowledge of them and I thank you for the helpful comments.

Phil
I'm really sorry to hear that, it must be very difficult as you say to watch a loved one reduced to tears in that way.

I've historically been recoil sensitive and more recently suffered with shoulder problems which come and go in terms of their intensity so I have an empathy with what you say.

My Invictus is the Impact model apwbich weighs in around 8.5-9 lbs, so with the right shells the recoil really is quite negligible....the flip side is that it's a 8.5-9lb gun....

As others have said, there are a myriad of options out there...recoil reduction systems, softer cartridge etc, etc....but I really do hope you get things sorted.

Recenty I've been toying with the idea of a gas operated semi auto for the Sunday's when my shoulder is really bad....something like a Beretta A300/A400 with kick off.....I'm guessing one of these combined with a sensible cartridge is going to be about as recoil free as is possible with a 12 bore

Good luck and wishing you all the best

Iggy, up until only very recently I had both an A400 xcel, and an xplor with kick off systems.

Both guns had so little felt recoil, 32g pigeon loads feel like 21g. Very good!

Well chaps, I took my wife for a second session with the CG Summit on Thursday shooting both DTL and sporting over at Beverley and the combination of the gun and Cheddite 21gr cartridges seemed to do the trick, no felt recoil.

We are buying the gun tomorrow although the agreement is already done so onward and upward and of course one of the ISIS recoil pads / units can always be added if needed.

I must confess what a pleasure it was to see her enjoying shooting AND shooting far better than she has with the Browning so a double bonus.

Thank you for all your input now just need to find a 'nice' gun slip.

Phil

I have a Impact , without doubt the nicest gun i have ever shot

Well the Summit is now living in one of our cabinets with one very happy new owner and for the third time out with it has shown both improvement in her shooting and without the pains she has been experiencing so it looks like we are onto a winner..................................................fingers crossed.

Phil
