"If costs increase, either prices increase or profits reduce; neither are desirable"

Desirable for the business no - not the customer - and if that's taken a step further an increase in profit is always good and thus it's a question of how far you can increase the price mindful of supply/demand. When we look at the price of cartridges the concern is that some of the recent increases do not correlate to cost increases at all.

Much depends in the example above on whether the 'stupid & naive' guy has had a commensurate pay rise to match the increases or whether he is in fact saying that, to him, the burger is now too expensive. The £14 might be the real price but he doesn't now want to pay it because he learnt during lockdown to make as good a burger at home.
The situation in the pub was different. He listed lots of things that had increased for him, but he couldn’t understand or accept how they had also increased for businesses (in many cases much worse than for him). So he thought it was a rip off and unjustified, hence the ‘stupid and naive’.

Re the increase in business costs, I would suggest the increases in prices vary rarely reflect any increased costs exactly. Business is far more complicated than that. The cost of production (including inflation) is just one factor in almost every single item you ever buy. Cartridges are no exception.

All of that being said, I’m confident that a) shooting will continue and b) there isn’t a cartel or collusion. I respect that you may hold a different opinion and I’m happy to agree to disagree.

I'm afraid there's no conspiracies or collusion at a local level. Prices aren't going up, the value of currency is going down. Same affect but the devaluation of currency is a symptom of fiat.
Watch to the end

Have Fiocchi now gone up? Justcartridges prices are looking particularly tasty!

28gm Rossa's at £382!!! I'm sure they weren't that sort of money a few weeks ago?

PM.

Ive heard of people paying £362 for Hull pro ones and I know Lyalvale went up on the 15th Feb. I thought Fiocchi went up on the 1st March. I think most budget cartridges are now touching £290 a thou.

I only use Rossas on extreme targets and have 2 slabs at home so should last a fair while, I think i Paid £342 a couple of months ago So that is quite an increase. Bearing in mind JC are right at the top end with there pricing.

Yes, everything in the Lyalvale Express group has had an increase. I think up to 5% but they own Fiocchi, Lyalvale and B&P, so it varies depending on which brand/what it is. That said, I haven't actually looked at the new price lists yet, so this was just a guestimate from looking at the odd price.

Rossa are one of Fiocchi's most premium cartridges, so they're not terribly affordable.

JC have always been pricey unfortunately. My local gunshop said 6% on Fiocchi. FBlus now £286, FBlack £291, Fblack fibre £312, F3 plastic £308 and Rossa £350. All 28g.

Express do not own Fiocchi, Fiocchi own Express and Fiocchi is part of the massive CSG czechoslovak group. Google them.

Fiocchi and B&P increased their prices on the 1st March, Express was a few weeks before that.

Justcartridges are very expensive. I just use their prices as a guide as they tend to put their prices up as soon as increases are meant to kick in.

After Express went up and fiocchi stood still, I'd assumed they were missing the rise again but obviously not.

High end competition shells are now eye wateringly expensive. They're getting very hard to justify with the quality of budget loads being so high.
