Any F1 fans out there? Just under 2 weeks until Melbourne.

Testing now completed and although rarely a good indicator, Ferrari not happy, McLaren seems to be there or thereabouts, Red Bull probably too. Renault possibly a surprise? Mercedes - who knows?

Yep - realling looking forward to the season... am a McLaren fan... so hoping for a better season.

This Friday is the launch of the dedicated f1 channel on sky :-D

Still undecided on whether to pay for the Sky coverage TBH. I'll watch it down the boozer (not for Oz as silly o'clock) and see if it's worth it.

I'll let you know, I get it anyway in glorious hd :) and they are promising no ad breaks during the race

I've followed it for years, more a fan of people than teams. I like to see Frank Williams happy, like to see Ron win, doesn't matter if it's through Lewis or Jenson but his ethos towards perfection is something to behold. I also really like Alonso even if he has been painted to be the evil one lately, in pure driver terms he is peerless, the only one to beat Schumacher at his peak, twice.

They ought to give an engineering sir hood to Adrian Newey  , it just doesn't get better than him does it.

Very interested to see how Williams do. OK, they are not the super-power that they once were, but now have Renault engines again for 2012, (as per Red Bull) and a new chief designer. Could be a dark horse for the odd podium..

Really enjoyed last season so looking forward to this season.

Have just cancelled Sky though so will see how viewing pans out on beeb only.

Cancelled Sky? I know they are robbers, but that will be like living in a cave! You will never develop the perfect physique for shooting if you dont reserve 7 sofa hours a night for surfing your Sky Planner. :p

I used to love F1 but the only one I really look forward to is Monaco, the rest is boring.

I love moto rsport, Rallying, Touring Cars and all of the smaller support races. I used to help prepare and mechanic on a MKII Escort Mexico, Holbay engine etc in the classic Ford series back in the 90's Have marshalled the RACNetwork Q rally of Great Britain .

I have been to the British Grand Prix but will never go again due to the cost, I really want to spend a few days at the Touring Cars and support races this year, far more exciting especially the support races :)

Will, hopefully your wares are in a few of them too and stand up well :)

Jon,

NO NO NO that would mean me having to talk to her indoors for more than the ad breaks at a time     ;)

I can't see me paying the Sky rate for the sport channels, as Clever says though it's indispensable for a lot of other things.

This year F1 is bundled in with HD, so you don't need Sky Sports at all. I bet they change it next year though!

PETROL HEADS !!! AND TRAPPIES GOD THIS SITE IS BEING INFILTRATED BY RADICAL FUNDAMENTALISTS OF THE WORST KIND!!!

I enjoy most forms of motor sport and am fortunate enough to live near one of the best circuits in the country,Cadwell Park.

It was good to see Rubens Barichello get a drive in Indy Cars in the US,I think he might surprise a few of them!

I follow F1 but have no intention of buying Sky,I'll have to hope that the BBC recorded coverage of the races they don't cover in full is enough.

One point about the F1 bosses that I can't understand is that all the time they are muttering about the costs of F1 they introduce rule changes like the planned engine design changes that will cost zillions.

'We must be seen to be green' they say so we'll introduce a new engine, made out of even more expensive unobtanium, and save a whole mile per gallon.

Whoop-de-do!!

Come on Button and Alonso and maybe Raikkonen.

Vic.

In my younger days I raced saloon cars for a couple of seasons. This was at a time when Grand Prix drivers truly were the elite. F1 cars had strange devices such as clutches or gearboxes and the cars were designed by real human beings. Driving a single seater in the 60s really was driving, not least because that was a time when sex was safe and motor racing was dangerous. No sane person wanted to see anyone hurt but the danger was always there and gave it an edge that has been legislated out for ever.

The advent of all the technical wizardry may be fascinating at the anorak level but in my opinion it reduces the driver to little more than an operator. Driving a F1 race these days is not much more than a glorified computer game where the skill & spirit of the driver counts for less & less and the technology more & more.

I watch the occasional race but I can't bear those interviews or press conferences with the drivers. Is it me or are they the most humourless & boring people on the planet?

Take a look at Moto GP. That's what real racing's all about!
