All the variables considered and Fuz's mind has not been mashed with too much Skeet info...sporting shooter in poor weather conditions shooting his 2nd reg Skeet..I'm predicting an 86/100. And best round with 24g steel.

Yep, 86. 20 with lead, 21 with Super Steel, 22 with White Gold Pro Steel and 23 with Super Steel again :D

Did you not count how many pellets in each cartridge? ..

I may have to give these steels a go. Chap I shot with at Bisley last Sun was using a DT11 with Super Steels and vaporising 1,2,6 & 7.

Good start Fuz  -  reading your diary with great interest  :)

Personally, for skeet I currently use the 24g White Gold Pro Steel 7.5's, I just think they hit a bit harder and are also a useful cheaper alternative for some sporting practice and some sporting club shoots too, so I can keep the more expensive Evo's for competition. Worth a try before you knock it.

Of course, as discussed in detail in other threads, it will always come down to a personal choice though !

As a reg comp rookie what is the difference between B/O and full entry? Is B/O no score registered with CPSA so just a full round under comp conditions with a ref as opposed to a practice round?

Cheers

Simon

P1Fanatic,

B/O entry means that you are simply shooting and registering your score with the CPSA (Providing it is a CPSA registered shoot) and are not eligible for any cash prizes.

Full Entry (competition) is usually a few pounds extra and you are in effect entering the cash prize pool with your extra cash - then you qualify for any cash prize if you shoot well enough.

If it is a organised CPSA registered shoot it should have a markers / referee's irrespective of wether you shoot B/O or Competition. Your scores should still get submitted to HQ but....... Do watch out though as some shoots can mean you cannot win the title / cannot gain "team" places unless you shoot full entry competition.

I cannot for the life of me understand why any grown man would want to shoot skeet, it is very easy, predictable, target distance is known and the trajectory.

It must be really easy because a fifteen year old girl beat the rest of the World at the weekend.

If I had known this, I would have paid Salopian for lessons instead of Seeing Todd Bender, sounds like he's hit hundreds of hundred straights.. :hunter:

But the targets as per the video were being blown all over the place and hardly where they would normally have been and even Hancock said that and he'd be happy to take her score in the conditions

Salop you old devil, are you fishing again! Think you caught one. Each to their own and I find it a lot harder than it looks. Certainly a good challenge ahead this season :D

@P1Fanatic Skeetfreak is spot on. Funny enough I was talking to a few of the lads at Tadley on Saturday and Martine from Northampton on Sunday about this very subject. It seems that unless its a big competition (major or selection shoot etc) most seem to go birds only in skeet (and Martine also mention trap registered as well)

We were discussing this and came to the conclusion that this is probably because of the smaller entries compared to sporting for example. A sporting registered is likely to attract 100 or more entries so the prize fund is a whole lot bigger, this means you put your fiver in the pot and could potentially win 100 odd quid for your class. With 40 odd entries at skeet you might win 10 or 15 quid.

It may be different at other skeet grounds, we were only chatting about the 2 grounds I have mentioned. I actually find it quite refreshing to just concentrate on trying to up the average rather than thinking, I'm gonna need X score to cash here :)

Did you read Snipey's report on the Skeet Club shoot he shot at the w/e. Good prize money there.

Its saving me a tenner every time I shoot :D £26 birds only skeet compared to between 35 and 38 for competition sporting  :money:
