Welshken,

I repeat,  it is very easy , very predictable and totally bloody boring.

Glad to see you have wasted your money with Bender, remember   ' Bender bends them, Kitson or Beardsmore mends them '.

Once you have spent your money being talked to by a Yank, spend some proper money having a lesson with someone and learn to shoot skeet.

I apologise if that sounds arrogant, but it annoys me that our home grown talent is overlooked. If you want to learn to shoot skeet, learn off Kitson, Beardsmore and Fielding did, and they can be happy with their performance.

Fuz knows me very well, and knows where I am coming from and what floats my boat.

If you want to enjoy your shooting sport, shoot sporting, if you are old and infirm shoot Trap, if you have lost the will to live and can't actually shoot, shoot Skeet.

If you are old, infirm, can't shoot, then set fire to English holiday homes.

Looking forward to meeting you when you come to Nottingham Fuz :)

If the weather is true to form then the targets will be testing enough, we are very unsheltered and on the top of a hill!

Thanks Jules, aiming to get up before may to have a look round. Exciting times ahead :D

So hows the trap shooting going at the mo Sloppy  :haha:

Going to go pick some Super Steel 24g 7.5’s up from my local dealer tonight to try out tomorrow alongside Evo Sporting 24g 9’s I normally use (I also could not get hold of Super Steels in 9’s). At £1.25 a box cheaper they will sure help with the practice costs. Am interested to see what the recoil difference is like as the Evo Sporting is supposedly reduced recoil as essentially a revamped White Gold XLR.

Try the WG Pro Steel 9's as well...they are "better", in my opinion.

I would thoroughly recommend the first bank holiday weekend in May

May 5th we have 100 ESK (Express Championship) on the Nottingham Sporting Clays side - loads of prize money and a good party afterwards - great opportunity to get to know some of the skeet community. We also have 100 ESK on at Nottingham & District so you can do 200 in one day and get 2 scores registered.

On Monday 6th we have a Help for Heroes ESK Charity shoot at Nottingham & District and at Nottingham Sporting Clays we have a 50 bird Sporting Re-entry shoot and a 50 bird Skeet Re-entry shoot.

We also have 100 DTL on both days too if you fancy having a pop at the trap disciplines :)

Let me know if you are interested and I will get you booked on - If you are looking to do both days and want a hotel rcommendation then again just let me know.

If you have a caravan or motorhome then you are more than welcome to pitch up at the ground :)

Thank you so much for sharing your wisdom earned over the last 60 or 70 years Salopian.

For your information I have also had a day with Dave Beardsmore some months back, and a jolly nice chap he was...

Very different styles, but both days enjoyable in their own way.

As to shooting sporting, I did exactly that for 18 years before turning to skeet, and worked my way up to AA, which I stayed in for 3 years (now back in A).

You must stop presuming that skeet shooters have never shot any other discipline, and that the only reason they shoot skeet is because they're not good enough to shoot anything else.

As to your comment about burning English Homes, I'll say nothing, as you probably said it to get a reaction, as you often seem to do..

Thanks for letting me know about these Jules, that weekend was the likely one anyway as its the Bank holiday :) Will need to have a chat with Mrs Fuz but I dont think the weekender will be feasible. 2 different grounds in the day sounds like a great idea for the Sunday, not sure I will be troubling the prize fund quite yet but the experience will do me good.

Which way round would you recommend doing them? I was thinking District first then the Express so I'm there to watch any shootoffs and the prize giving.

Sounds like a good plan, and you get to dig into the party food then too, happy days!

I have booked you onto Nottingham & District at 11.10am (I've put you on peg 4 but if you want to change that just let me know)

I have booked you onto the Express at 1.30pm which should leave an hours gap between the two - enough time for a bite to eat and a little chill out. Again I have put you on peg 4.

If you need them changing at all - not a problem, but with you shooting both I wanted to make sure that you weren't starting too early and that you could get a break between.

Hope that helps and really looking forward to seeing you :D

If anyone else wants booking on to any of our shoots, just let me know and I will do all I can to get you a decent squad and time

Spot on Ta muchly :)

Edit, how far away from each other are these 2 grounds?  and how many millions do I have to raid the piggy bank for  :money:

Oooh, it's a long way - About 300 yards!

The grounds are both on the same site. I'll check on prices, the NDGC will be £27 B/O at most, the Express will be a bit more because of charity levies but I'll double check when I'm back at the ground on thurs

Julesy Is the Oxton ground still operating? Only did some work in Newark in 2009 and stayed in Nottingham and managed to get a few afternoons shooting skeet there but not seen any mention of the name as of late.

No, Oxton and all its businesses ceased trading in Dec 2011. We purchased the assets and moved into the site and have reopened the ground as Nottingham Sporting Clays.

Across the 2 grounds we have 8 skeet layouts, 16 stand sporting, 6 DTL, 5 ABT, 2 Double Rise, FITASC and Sportrap.

It'll look very different if you visit again when you're in the area :)
