Hi

Just wondering whether a GroPro would help my shooting, I generally shoot by myself. I am hoping that I will get the idea whether I am shooting behind or as my coach suggested today more often than not too high.

Does anyone use them? Just looking for feedback really and whether the basic 30fps frame rate would be good enough...

Thanks

It won't show you where the shot pattern is well, so I can't believe it's a quick answer. Used with a coach, it could help form part of an explanation of where you are going wrong, but to correct an error, the WAY you go about shooting the clay needs addressing and why that places the muzzle in the wrong place as you fire.

I use a gopro my self but only for fun. Some shot's you can't even see the clay's. Like Master clay breaker said, get some coaching much better that way and you'll learn more.

Sorry, I should have explained, I already have a coach who is great, this was more for practice to try to learn more about where I am missing, I know why I am shooting above or behind, not always sure where I have missed...

Ben Wells, Zulu Dave and myself have had great fun using iPhone in slow-mo to film. Some of it comes out extremely well - both breaks and misses. Ben has often put bits of his films onto fbook etc. Just another suggestion for what it's worth. Not sure how helpful the footage is but its certainly interesting!

;p

It does come out well doesn't it. Good work.

Not sure it will show you any better than your own eyes?

If they were any good would a coach not use them.

There is a camera that clips to the under barrel for sale regulary on ebay about £40.00 under 'clay shooting'. Not sure if its any good.

Will is right. I found that watching myself shoot, showed issues and inconsistencies.

get someone to go with you and film you, ideally side on, as you are shooting. Don't worry about getting the clay in the picture. You will see things you didn't realise even happen!

Think your still when you call pull?

Think you have a routine?

Think you maintain your hold point when you call pull?

The shot hitting the clay, is the last 1/1000th of a second of the process.

What really matters, is what's happening for the 30 seconds before that :)

Exactly.

If you want to learn from the footage you want to be filmed from the side...

Check this old bit of footage of me (and both of my chins).  There is a point, just near then end, that lets slip it was a bad shot.  These are all things you will pick up on, when you video yourself.

Yes, you're so right Skeet.

That really is showing up loads of faults!  :sarcastic:

Is that The Robin Hood? Been over 25 years since I've been there but looks familiar?

Yes mate.  Miles better than it used to be and some testing targets at times! :)

I'm a much more "upstanding" shooter these days, considerably less muttering and virtually never mouth swear words to cameras ;)

Actually Cyril, the amount of money I spent there in the past has probably built that shoot into what it is today. I hope it's good, because it should be!!

I didn't even get banned from your shoot. Guess I'm just not a bad boy?  :sarcastic:
Sorry mate...they run off with all your money.  My mate has owned it for the last two years and turned it around.

:fie:  Nah! TD, I never banned anyone? I believe in freedom of speech! unless I did'nt like what they said?  (just kidding)

I pissed a few off though! :fie:

Interesting that it may be The Robin Hood Shoot !

Quote 'they ran off with all your money'

Isn't that what Robin Hood did? Robbed the Rich?
