I am looking for Gun insurance. Anyone help me with a good company?

Not using hose hold insurance.

Regards Simon

I'll be interested in the responses to this one. I've yet to purchase a gun, but will most assuredly be getting desperate insurance for it.

Gunsure offer specific firearms insurance but they're expensive. You'll find household cover is more than adequate and for a lot less money.

never had one insured. What's it insured for exactly ?

I have never lost one or had one nicked and have no intention of putting one in a position of being lost or stolen!!!

Mines insured for accidental damage inside or outside the house and theft.

be a lot of damage to warrant the presumed excess !!

A friend of the family had his home broken into, and his guns were targeted specifically. I think it was an inside job (they knew where his hidden safe was) so I'd want the extra protection.

Better safe than sorry surely...

which is why one should never ever discuss gun ownership with anyone who doesn't need to know and never be seen loading or unloading them in the car if it can be avoided.

totally agree. I'm not sure what the final details were. I do know it spooked them enough to consider selling the house and moving. They also have cleaners that go in (it's a big place!)

I use house hold insurance for the little extra it costs. If stolen or lost in a fire at home they are covered. Also damage and loss away from home, flying abroad there is always the chance of them going missing or damage however careful you are. Surely depends on the value, if a few hundred quid and just took them out in the UK then probably not bother.

The reason for insurance is taking my gun abroad. I go to Vilamoura a lot and just want to cover my gun.

Our guns are insured as specified items on our NFU household policy, the description also includes the custom made stocks.

My wife and I had two Perazzi MX8s stolen from our hotel room over ten years ago whilst we were competing in a selection shoot, NFU were good as gold and replaced them, we have a new for old policy.

Baggage handlers at either Malaga or Stansted airports mangled up my Perazzi abs case and the Essevierre stock was cracked through the grip. NFU paid for me to go back to Italy for a replacement stock to be made.

Costs me an extra 7 quid a year with a 150 excess. If i deop it and damage the stock/forend/barrels etc I would be quite happy to pay the  excess to get a new part or gun.

Have ours on household policy. Mrs jasper fell at a shooting ground posing as a building site. Dented rib ,wood totally buggered, various scratches all over. Replaced for brand new one  within 2 weeks. (Beretta 686e).now have the  2 gold e 's as specified. Everything else under threshold. Covered in and out of house. And also if stolen from locked vehicle. About extra £30pa.   Excess £100.

What's not to like????

surely if damaged by airline you claim on there insurance as its there negligence ?

Claim on your own insurance, then bring the might of their people to chase the the guilty party. Much simpler and less hassle. That's what happened with mine .even got excess back.

Why bother claiming against the airline if you have your own policy. If then your company decides to claim against the airline so be it, I'd rather they have the hassle than me, that's what they get paid for.
