The robbery took place at a property in Nightingale Road in Allington near Maidstone between 12:00 and 21:00 GMT on Saturday, Kent Police said.

Three luxury watches, some jewellery and the three firearms were taken during the raid.

No-one has been arrested, a spokesman for Kent Police said. Any witnesses or anyone with any information are asked to come forward.

Seems to me they were not locked up !!!

Not necessarily, I know some who keep luxury items in the separate ammunition safe in some cabinets. If the tea leafs came across the safe early on then they may have decided to just take the safe on a gamble.

With the best will in the world cabinets aren't fort knox, I believe that the HO guidance says they only have to resist efforts for 8 mins with ordinary tools. A breakers bar and sled hammer could make short work of most fixings. At the usual  2mm thick the steel is hardly impervious to an angle grinder. If you aren't worried about property damage or using the safe again I'm sure most people could get in one in well under an hour.

Still, without the facts we are both just spitballin'. Might be a little premature to being pointing towards negligence that's all.

a battery powered angle grinder will make pretty short work of any BS rated gun cabinet. the home office assumes that your average have a go bugler doesn't carry one .

my cabinet is placed somewhere you would struggle to "jimmy" it off the wall because it has no room around it but the 2mm steel wouldn't stand up against a grinder

Most gunsafe,in fact home safes bought on price are absolute garbage, as above angle grinder, doesnt need to be battery, we all have electric on at home.Lots of videos on the web showing haw t oopen them in a few minutes. Get something decent I am a building contractor, everything to open the cabinet is already here in my garage.

I invested in one of these https://www.atozsafes.com/tann-ts4-900, took it out of a bank in the midlands for free. 204 mm thick walls, copper alloy core, glass relockers and weighs 3.5tonnes. Now this is overkill i know but there are many steps inbetween.

Don't lose the key,as you won't be shooting for a long time as I cannot see jimmy that door off in a hurry.

Using the term 'Robbery' as opposed to 'Burglary' suggests that violence was used to commit the Theft, (a bit like GD's mishap). This would lead one to believe that the Occupants were present at the time  ???

funnily enough the BBC article in the link uses the term "Burglary" in the headline but then says "Robbery" in the following paragraph

but you are absolutely right there is a difference between the two
