Guys and Girls.

We had a report regarding inappropriate use of certain words, that might be used to convey sexuality.

Nothing major, as you know.  But, we don't want to upset people.

A few of you have had your posts and quotes edited...sorry, but I have to be even handed.

Thanks :)

And yeah, totally do look " *** " . Camper than a row of Pink Tents. ;)

Not to upset anyone.....but that's broken Britain right there!

Why?

Do you think that it is an Englishman's right, to publicly use the term "Gay", in a derogatory manner?

"Broken Britain", is to do with Social Decay.  So one could argue that, for a person to be intolerant and insensitive to certain social groups, makes that person part of the problem.

Been away so not sure what has been said....but nothing wrong with using the term gay.....much better than homosexual which is really dated now. All the gays that I have know refer to themselves as gay or queens or in Stuarts case a very camp pink queen of the gays...true story..!

At no time has it been seen as an insult.

(P.s. That said....he said he would not be seen dead pulling on of those  .....he is just saying..!!)

Nothing wrong with the word Gay; but when you use it devalue something, it becomes derogatory.  What was said, was done in a harmless manner and was clearly not designed to be offensive.

This is coming from someone who had to "camp it up" when younger, to get into G.A.Y.'s with some of my Lesbian friends. ;)

We had a complaint, it was valid, action was taken.  Simple really.

I am sure that someone who often makes a point of people "watching what they say" online, can appreciate that.

I would say its depends on how the word is used, first time I have been told off for calling a gun slip gay.nothing sexual, I did not want to have an extra marital affair with it just wanted to know if my politically correct kreighoff would fit in it.

The next gun slip question I will make sure that it is hetrosexual, a bland colour and registered as disabled and I hopefully will tick all the boxes and not get told off.

As an Englishman yes I suppose it is, freedom of speech and all that.

Broken Britain more referred to people getting there knickers in a knot about a word! which to be fair means several things to different people it would appear.

I know where you are coming from mate, it was a innocent enough comment...don't get me wrong.

However, public forums like this have a very diverse membership and readership and we have to remember that.  What you (innocently) wrote actually came across as "Are these gun slips any good/acceptable or are they Gay".  Which suggests that being Gay is "no good/unacceptable".

We can all see the funny side, even my Gay mates laugh at loads of things that could be construed as offensive, but I don't think we want to be the kind of people who say things that could really upset people.

So yeah, not getting at you..just trying to keep the peace....without going to extremes.   :)

Tell me about it....might have to buy one now!
Don't but one! I have mainly seen them blow over in the wind when empty or topple over in the slightest slope! Would be easier to lean the gun up against something or hang the empty slip over a fence or rope!

Brilliant. Great to know that we have gays on the forum. As for a gay gun slip .....I have one and love it....a really camp one...but at the moment the zip has broken so I cannot use it (anyone know who can mend a zip ?

I love it although my husband insists it is made from one of my dogs...and only use it for game days..!

I went on a bender in Hotham on Friday after the shoot.....does that count as being ok?

Aaaaaanyway...back on topic.

Saw  a few of these at my local shoot today
