It's not an elitist issue and no, i'm no more fortunate than anyone else. By undesirables I mean those I occasionally see at shooting grounds looking like they've just wandered out of the local doss house.

Just last week I saw three guys each sharing a gun, dressed like yobs, messing around and showing little regard for safety, etiquette or the wishes of their fellow competitors. If an increase in the cost of a certificate deters folks like that from buying a gun it gets my vote.

I doubt a modest increase would have any effect  on this. However grounds taking a firm approach and others taking the time to explain the etiquette may have more benefit and help promote the sport rather than just reducing the number of people who can.

I am sure there are some with certs who should not have them, that is down to the FLO to deal with, we need to encourage as many people from as many backgrounds to try shooting (all forms) and to take it up regularly.

I do get what Jan means by this post now. I took the earlier one another way (apologies).

The post that Tinker Bell makes (below) may be said in jest, but from experience is so true.

Cash doesn't buy you class or common sense, and some of the richest people I've come across have been decidedly scruffy with attitudes to match, while others, rich and less well heeled, have been how you would want them to be at a shoot. It takes all sorts, but I do agree there are some "undesirables" out there.

Lots of rich tossers out there as well
   .!
