Yes he gave me a load of the thin neoprene sticky jobs he does but didn't work for me. Brilliant unit though.

Right, tried my gun with Isis recoil reducer this morning at AC sporting targets. Not my usual ESP, but `menu` shooting, similar to sportrap; so not my total usual mental comfort zone.

It was fitted with the soft (middle of the range) springs, which can be changed to suit how tightly one pulls the gun to the shoulder. This resists the shooters 'mounting force', to avoid over compressing the device before shooting. I will likely try the super soft next, which are supposed to offer ultimate recoil reduction (as long as you dont pull the gun in too tightly).

For reference, my gun was previously fittted with an Isis green pad alone.

Well, it is just nice to use! It made my 28g shells feel like an 18g shell would. I didn't notice any movement of the gun during shooting and any slight weight difference with it fitted is unnoticeable to me. Basically, its just as if my gun was not altered, but the shells are ultra low recoil.

I was shooting with a mate who uses a 391 semi. He had a few shots with mine and reckoned that the recoil was lower with my gun!

It will be a while before I am fully used to the lack of recoil. A couple of times I felt myself hesitate, awaiting recoil that was not there. I think I may be arresting the very beginnings of a flinching (trigger freeze) issue.

All good. Recommended.

Sounds good!

Did you buy the bits off the Internet and then supply to your fitter?

It seems quite a lot of people have this sort of thing.

Perhaps Matt can run a poll for us

I called Isis, discussed it and he sent the stuff to the gunsmith. Any smith should be OK, but Malcolm Jenkins is his recommended one and is not THAT far from me.

What you will find, if shooting pairs...is how much more time you have. Especially noticeable with Skeet. When shooting the doubles, you have to get used to it, because after the first shot, by the time your sight picture returns, the 2nd bird hasn't got there yet!

i ,ve fitted an isis to my DT 10, trouble is when you pick anyone else,s gun up from now on and have a shot with it you,ll think bloody hell that kicks like a mule. The extra weight on the back end makes no differance imo,i added weight to the front to counter this but took it out eventually!!

I have now had GraCoil reducers fitted (by Simon at Doveridge) to 4 guns over the last 7years and will shortly be having another fitted to my latest purchase.

I think that using a recoil absorber makes the difference between me continuing to shoot or not unless I go to 24/21gm loads which I dont want to.

The GraCoil does add a little weight to the stock but that is as I like it, It also has a good range of adjustments which is very usefull to obtain a good gun fit, it is also adjustable for tension which if you like to fiddle can be adjused to suit differen cartridge loads!.

Possibly not to everyones taste but I would not like to shoot without one now.

I had another go with Isis fitted today. I started a bit badly, but had not shot for a while. Also I felt I was thinking about recoil and ironically probably noticed it more than usual, adjusting tension on my shoulder. Gave myself a talking to and just forgot it and shot. Finished with a straight 25 on the Promatic layout at AC sporting targets. (Not that tough..).

First proper outing will be Sunday at Weston.

Newbie,

Interested as to how you went on with this.  I am wanting a recoil reducer but there are quite a few on the market.

Did you go for the ISIS?

None of them really did it for me. I believe they just extend the durations the impulse of recoil. I went down the custom stock route with great effect. I want a stable gun to enable a rapid second barrel for OT.

I think they have their place, just not for me.

I have an Isis. It is quite a different device depending on which springs you fit in it. (Comes with a selection).
