How very dare you! I've not done the handshake thing for some time now. And as for the trouser leg thing I believe you are mistaking me with IPNightly.

IanSB - you can sign on from 9.30 onwards and the first squad usually starts shooting about 10.00. I will be there about 9.30 ish. Easy to spot as the boy with me.

All this talk of Perazzi barrels being made for 24 gram has got me thinking so that is what I'm shooting UT with tomorrow.

Look forward to meeting you........unless of course you beat me in which case I won't!

DT

PS: bring your waterproofs!!

Phil will also be holding a copy of the times and wearing a pink carnation, so should be easy to spot.
I could manage a copy of today's Telegraph and I might even be wearing this if it isn't slashing down.

Dt

interested to hear your thoughts on the 24g

my advice is forget there 4g light and shoot as normal. I will be surprised if you don't enjoy better kills. F black ?

Official Trap!!

Used them recently at Nutty for the OT coaching day and must say I was really impressed. Was going to use for the UT selection shoot but bottled it.

DT

Official eh, you rich begger.

I have used 24 for abt and ut many times and cant say my score suffered noticeably. I prefer the characteristics of 24 and the quality of kills is imo better however this is open to much debate. Having said all that its still 4g less and that makes a doubt in your mind but only if your score is low "obviously" if your score is good 4g is of no loss. One top ot shooter of note told me "why disadvantage yourself if you can use 28 then do so" i however remain unconvinced as to the benefits in reality of extra 4g through modern barrels with quality ammo.

Just bought 3k e black 28 though :)

I used both and shot rubbish with both, the near misses were indentical.   Kills to me look about the same, but of course this will vary according to the gun and shell combination used.

Near misses identical.

That is pure class mate :)

Post of the week imo. :)

Phil / Gregfull report on rugby please. Not shot today so suffering with shooting withdrawal so a shoot report may help with the DTs (no pun intended) :)

Bloody windy, raining and bad light.

It was good to meet Greg and Phil and it was a very good and testing shoot today thanks to the weather.

I went 21, 15, 18, 21 to finish 75ex100. I have to say i am pleased with that.

Unfortunately i wont be able to make the GB selection shoot in May due to prior commitments, but i will be back soon.

Well I must admit to a few of Les's near misses today and ended up with an 80 (19,21,21,19) which given the wind and the rain coming in through the front door of the layout I am not to gutted about but there were several targets which should not have got away, mainly straight targets...Doh!

I have to say the 24g Official Trap I was shooting gave excellent kills either first or second barrel (when I put the stuff in the right place) with no perceivable difference to 28g. I did try a box of Gamebore Platinum 28 g (kindly donated by IanSpecialboy) and found them to be very smooth (even smoother than 28g. Fblacks) with good breaks (except when I purposely put the lead somewhere else).

Good to meet IanSB and wife and I think he may have been tempted over to the Darkside, with talk of more UT and even OT!

not a bad score considering the conditions then.

Nigel Caves was shooting 23's and 24's so I guess he was close to HG. Can't remember who else was up there though? Results should be up Wednesday/Thursday so be patient.

ISB - Harry crashed and burned on his last round with a 16 to finish on a 74. Complaining of a wrist injury halfway through the last round but otherwise he was doing OK.

DT

Nigel Caves and Sean Heath tied on 96 for HG. Peel's score was very uncharacteristic and I wouldn't read anything into it.

I ended up on 85. Started with a 24 then spiralled down to a 19 on a badly wind affected layout. Traps 4 & 5 which throw left handed targets were an absolute lottery. The targets were going into a head wind and if missed were curling right round and actually landing to the right of the trench by a good 10-15 metres. I scraped a pair of 21's on the final two rounds.

Really glad I hadn't cleared my shooting bag of winter gear as I made use of tea cosy hat and gloves to try and keep warm and dry.

I hope the weather perks up before the next UT selection there on 10/11 May.

Good to meet Ian for the first time and DT and H again.

Cheers Phil

sounds like a typical early season shoot. Those pesky one bad lines are a mare aren't they. You may have read my posts on the subject but i find it frustrating to say the least when your shooting well and then a 19 comes from no were to ruin an otherwise potentially good score its as though your sub conscious tells you that its time to stuff it up as though one bad one is expected of you.

Not you of course just a personal observation of my own psyche.
