Thinking of having a trip up to Kegworth this weekend, what's it like, any good, anything I need to know etc etc

Thanks in anticipation, Jkc x

Ps hoping to do Garlands as well but I have seen lots on here about that ground and know Steve will look after us...

Not an expert as you know but I have shot there a few times and found it to be challenging and friendly. shot it quite early on at the start of my addiction and one old boy said he wanted to cry for me I was really struggling but it did not put me off. The husband enjoys shooting there and he is quite fussy about quality of shoots.

Decent ground Jen !! Usually a good set of targets. Haven't been there for a while, definitely worth a visit. Garlands very good, when Steve puts it on.

Hi JKC, if you are doing Garlands it may be worth going to Oakedge rather than Kegworth. In my opinion a much nicer ground with better facilities.

Hi Jen personally I have shot good shoots at oakedge and Kegworth

We are at garlands this Sunday which is probably about 20 to 30 mins from either of the above so be good to see you

I think oakedge is probably the most picturesque ground around apart from Westfield of course

.

kegworth quite flat but john tries hard . usually good targets . shot the last esp and it was 14 stands , 2 i think were following pairs but it was 14 stands so forgiven . the targets can be decieving in the way they don't look too bad and don't frighten you  but then you miss . thinking persons shoot??? very fair on payouts and the refs know their stuff and are very friendly.  we enjoy it there but plenty don't.  ladies and juniors get free comp upgrade . ( £30 for comp) normally £36. and they give 1/2 price shoot next time to 1st lady, junior and vet subject to 2 shooting think.

watch out for the use of illegal carts . someone there last time using black gold 32grms.    oh sorry they must have been in my bag from yesterdays game shoot . yeah yeah :sarcastic:   :sarcastic:

interesting use of mini's lately tooo.

enjoy.

p.s find oakedge very samey shoot but then thats maybe why people like it.should be okay for a first visit. take your welding gogles for the targets thru the sun

If you wanted to.make a day of it without spending too much time travelling between shoots there is always the option of visiting Orston which is located off the A52, east Nottingham. This is a one stop shop which offers several disciplines including 100 sporting (squaded), Skeet, DTL, ABT, Compact sporting, Double rise and UT all of which can be shot on the same day. A well stocked shop and a great club house with a bar too hic hic. www.orston.com
