I am fairly new to clay shooting(about 12months) . I am left eye dominant and I was used to shooting an air rifle Left handed because of this.
Since taking up clay shooting I switched to right hand but I’m struggling big time, so i am thinking buying a L H shotgun. I am Right handed by the way. I would appreciate any help and advice
A year on from my original post, I thought I would update..
I took a little something from everyone,s advice first I recieved my new spectacles then switched to my left shoulder,I was so pleased with how it went I bought a new true left handed gun within a week. All in all it has gone so well for me . I just wanted to thank everybody. Happy New year to all

sorry, that was the answer, do you have any problems shooting from your right shoulder? presumably, if you have no particular eye dominance you can shoot with either eye but you will want to shoot from your right shoulder using your right eye as you are right handed

I have had all the tests and the dominance is not directly between each eye, it fluctuates slightly between them. When shooting with both eyes open, I see two barrels and neither line up on the clays. Straight away clays are a real problem

There’s always the tried and trusted occlusion dot on your shooting spec left lens . Properly positioned it won’t affect your vision in anyway up to the point you have your full gun mount , then it will occlude that eye . I’ve been doing that for decades , despite prescription lenses , despite gun fit. Sometimes my left eye just takes over .

I am guessing that you will need to 'create' a dominance - choosing a shoulder and closing an eye as an initial starting point. I expect - but really have no idea - that part of the problem will be that your mount may have felt 'uncomfortable' from the outset (as your eyes struggle looking down the barrels) and closing an eye will allow you to work on that. Or as Martin says use a patch.

Are your eyes good - if you already wear contacts, then as odd as it sounds you might be better speaking to a optician about making one eye better (or worse). That worked for me quite well - the astigmatism is corrected in my left (dominant) eye only.
