Unfortunately - I don't sell Gebbens video (would be great) - however, you can grab it from his site - and get it 'digitally delivered' to your ipad - www.quietdustshooting.com is the place.Just off to look in Matts shop.
I think you have hit the nail on the head! to shoot maintained lead you need to have that sight picture in your head and then think this target is like the one at so and so. Lots of experience needed. Swing through or pull away by the very mechanics of the technique put you on line and at the same speed as the clay in the most part. Then it is down to shot timing and the other varibles common to all methods, feet follow through etc etc. I do believe if people could read target speed and distance very well then 90's shooting maintained lead would become far more common (Wink!)Well Mark, if people cannot judge speed or distance in sporting, I expect it will not matter what method they use (laughs).
Gebben is a lovely bloke.......not stayed at my house (wink)I've worked with Gebben a lot and indeed he shot with my father at the world FITASC and as someone as stated there maintained isn't what we see it as. Gebben does start ahead of slower birds but bumps out to a lead a bit like Richard and on the faster stuff he increases gun speed. He stayed at my house for 7 days I saw all this ......
A top guy and worthy champion who also stated he would have to change his method if he came to the UK again as the World Englidh showed up flaws.
Good try tho Nic xxxxxx love ya still
Spoil Sport! :.:I tried to get Jessica Rossi to stay at mine for 7 nights but wife said no.
Nicola, I think Ben's description of Gebben's and Richards technique is what I was trying to get at with all this, that it isn't classic maintained as a lot of people think of it. It is of course just a word and I personally think covers a few techniques. It is as you say horses for courses and I think our hang ups are only in trying to describe what we are doing.Gebben is a lovely bloke.......not stayed at my house (wink)
He uses maintained lead ....confirmed last night as I said.
Not trying anything sweetie.....just keeping newbie peeps aware that all methods are valid and useable depending on the persons skills.
Not sure why you want to force your opinion on everyone......as it is obvious on here that some people like maintained lead.
It has been an amusing 7 pages though.
Keep selling......love ya toooo (got the pass to say it)

I concur, at the end of the day how can you quantify what is or isn't true bog standard maintained given all the variables, variations in flight and speed happen within the stand all the time where one target has to be broken with a last minute rush of pull away or whatever.Nicola, I think Ben's description of Gebben's and Richards technique is what I was trying to get at with all this, that it isn't classic maintained as a lot of people think of it. Can't see the problem there. After all Nic's hoping Gebben's tools will be turning up in her Christmas stocking...I tried to get Jessica Rossi to stay at mine for 7 nights but wife said no.
Thanks for your Input Richard, so I take it from this you shoot proper maintained and not half lead pull away? Totally understand teaching appropriate technique to different students and I got a lot out of our lesson and believe it helped me win a silver medal in Island Games a week laterI shoot maintained lead...
But that doesn't mean I teach it... I teach the individual the best way I see fit for that person.
