Jake, thanks...

When I see the target, I instantly look with my eyes straight to the visual lead that I believe the target needs, if your hand/eye coordinator is half up to scratch then the gun will follow your eyes. I only ever really see the gun and target in my peripheral vision. This is also another reason that I remove the bead from the rib.

Make sense??

Thank you Richard I've read all 8 pages and not related to any method until reading your last post. Your explanation of how you shoot is exactly what I see.

And I thought I was doing it all wrong!!!

If you think this is thread drift......you should see it with the pictures attached on Facebook......funniest thing I have seen this week .....apart from some official emails spouting forth.... L o. L

Well we had a good run on this one without much drift. Just one last question- Can you get the line of a canted or wind effected target correct using maintained? You can see it, you can see where it's going, why not!

jake thanks for starting this thread, and thanks to all the posters, this has been better than any shooting mag.Where else would you get opinions from some of the best shots in the world at the same time.

Jake,

I think it is fair to say we have covered this subject pretty comprehensively. Ben is entitled to his views and opinions, but may feel as though he's had is backside smacked by one or two. I think I have a pretty good grasp of the method and style (see posts 4,29,34,&41).

I would say that you can allow for cant and drift whilst shooting maintained lead, in fact I would think that Chris Childerhouse, Richard Faulds and Bill McGuire plus many others do it regularly. Which is why I asked the question, Is it true Maintained Lead, or Diminishing Lead or Corrected Lead?

What actually is Move Mount Shoot? Is it having a Lead library, estimating required Lead and just moving mounting and shooting? Which surely involves mounting ahead of the bird and shooting instantaneously or if you pause at all you are then maintaining a Lead so therefore not shooting MMS. It is all actually a variation of a method in my opinion.

Like fletch i was beginning to think i had to change everything about the way i shoot , so i would like to say a massive thank you to richard for coming on here and explaining the way he shoots as i shoot the same way , to any doubters on whether maintain lead works richard does hold the world record in fitasc 198-200 . Thanks again richard
