At Beverley I hold about a18 inches onto the grass works for me, I tend to get higher with more confidence then a little low one sneaks out and don't pick it up and end up back to original position, some good shots I have watched hold below the mark even on top of the trench, but for me I tend to lift my head on high birds holding low. so I guess the higher the better as long as you can see all the targets come out ! about the same as 40UP's theory of hold at the height of the lowest bird.

Yes I know what you mean you can sneak higher. Its a matter of compromise really isn't it, how high to go before you start to make the low ones more difficult. Never really been able to master holding on the mark however I am going to experiment over winter as I think long term a low hold may be a better compromise. But time and tests will tell.

How was the weather yesterday for the ABT ? scores looked quite low apart from the couple of good ones from the obvious shooters.

Didn't go yesterday, but the weather was cold and bit breezy round here, it's the background at this time of year that makes it tricky picking the birds up on some layouts, but dosen t seem to affect the top few as much as everyone else imo

I tend to change hold point and focus point depending on layout and conditions.

As do i les but what is starting point or preferred or whatever you want to call it ?

Well Ian, as a rule of thumb I would normally hold on the lid as a first step, but I will look out at an area that would be about six inches above the muzzle. If that makes any sense?!

perfect sense mate, yes that is what I was interested in

its all about those reny angles i suppose,as covered in renatos book!
A yes Renato lamera great coach would love to have a OT lesson from him. I have watched quite a few of his videos unfortunately inItalian however I do try to get the basic of what he is saying, his take on gun mount is very revealing I have tried it .. I like it an have adopted it!

His book is very good John!

After a bit of hassle it has to be said les. Got there in the end but without modern technology which proved to be useless for both of us :)
