Ok new topic I would like some feedback on guys

Until we start the white gold qualifiers again in February we will be running a pool shoot at our grounds . I have done most combinations in the past but this Sunday at garlands I'm leaning towards doing a teal flush with 3 or 4 traps and different sequences so nobody knows what is coming but all shoot the same pretty much along the same lines as white gold , it will be 20 birds , entry fee £5 with a 30 percent prize at the end of day , and if you're not there at the end we will keep prize for you till next time

What do you think ????????

I enjoyed your teal flush stand at Westfield. Personally, I think 20 of them might be a bit much though? How about after 10 teal, it became ten driven?

Agree, a pool shoot is a great place to have something other than a conventional ESP stand though.

Another thing I wonder might do well is a 'practice stand' ; a medium level difficulty 5 pair stand, where a shooter who may not have shot for 1 week or a lot longer could just shake off the cobwebs without worrying about the score, for £3? Pool shoots are often tough and can shatter confidence rather than build it.

sounds like fun - how about having this at Weston Wood? Garlands is just too far for this London girl!!!

Yes Jane we will be doing it at wood and Westfield aswell

William you are just too sensitive , shoot the hard ones get on with it and just smile you might even surprise yourself , trouble with split pools it will tie up three more traps , at Westfield ain't a problem but the cost of extra transport to garlands will not cost effective

Pool shoots are great, but maybe after the event. Carl Bloxham says that they can screw up your day if you do them first.. Hence the thought of a simple 'cobwebs' stand. Shooting is almost unique like that. The very first shot of the day counts.

I love pool shoots just another chance to shoot more for me. No where near being able to win but give them all a try just for fun. Even had a go at the challenge at Westfield only got 8 but given the difficulty I felt like I had won!

We had a pool shoot at our S.I. Sporting Champs, it was  3 report pair of springers at 80, 90 and 100 yards.

Great fun 30% back to winners (only 1 -shot all 6) Then Mark Vessy wanted to do it at 130 yards behind the fence, result me 1, Mark  2/4!!

the best pool shoot was the one at Wylye £5 for 20 birds run as a sportrap (4stands of 5) always very popular   :)

Steve stand 16 at Westfield some targets and combinations like that!! Stimulating targets wakes you up!!!!

+ 1000000000

I so need to warm up before I shoot....

I am not a big fan of pool shoots to start, as they can be hard which isn't a problem, but I don't want my confidence ruined before I start. Prefer to do them after. Mi do agree that a warm up stand would be a good idea.

Agree with clever

Steve, as you know, it is very easy to do what you want and would enjoy yourself. You also know very well that catering correctly to an audience of a mixed 200 shooters is a separate affair..

I agree with Celever too, I never use pool shoots as they always 'look' tough and I don't want my confidence shattered before I even start. Having said that, if some kind of warm up stand was available just to get your eyes in, I'd certainly make use of that.

I find pool shoots very usefull, I tend to do one prior to the comp shoot - just to help me get into the 'zone' don't worry about the score one bit, just use it to start me focussing and moving well, once I have shot the comp I tend to go back and shoot the pool again with a competitive brain, always found that shooting a few toughies first sharpens me up pretty quick, as long as I can look at it this way and get spurred on by the challenge and not be downheated due to missing a few it seems to settle me down ready for the comp, guess I'm just a big kid who gets exited at the thought of dustin a few of them evil flying discs!
