Talking to a few of the guys at the club yesterday and they really recommend using a piece of Scotchbrite pad for cleaning the barrels of a shotgun. They say it is not as aggressive as using steel wool but the results are similar.

Ive got the normal bore scrubber spray and i wasnt that impressed with it, must try the foam which is much like clenzoil which i think is brilliant stuff

Just ordered a tin.  Not cheap at £17.50 but haven't used a foam/gel before so worth a try.

In my opinion Phillips bore cleaner is better than Clenzoil I've bought Clenzoil twice now and still don't understand the hype! Wont bother buying it again Phillips bore cleaner is half the price and does a better job!

don't know about that birchwood casey stuff but I'll stick to what I know instead of looking for wonder products!

A bit cheaper if you order it from here http://www.uttings.co.uk/p115271-birchwood-casey-bore-scrubber-foaming-gel-bcbsfg/#.VTkATJ-COrU

I paid 12.50 from local gunsmith, definitely worth it, I have found it better than clenzoil which is 12 and is much smaller, removed God knows how many years of crap when used it on sxs ... Not sure you want to get it skin or clothing though, it's also illegal for sale in California which is a little worrying...

A tin of elbow grease is also a must, as can be used when the barrels are really dirty

Ordered some to try myself, currently using Napier stuff but can't seem to get rid of the lead fouling in the barrels. :(

Ok, so I bought some of this stuff..  It smells pretty scary, makes a mess everywhere and seems to do nothing special. Bores still got fouling in. Not impressed..

cheers for the micro review, confirmed what I was thinking really! sounds clenzoil"esk" goes everywhere makes everything stupid slippery and really doesn't do a lot drives me nuts I really believe separate cleaners and lubricants is the way forward.

best bore cleaner?? my gunsmith

seiously..i have been struggling witrh this issue and fibre wads for ages and he seemed to think that polishing the bores to a much higher standard (took him 2 hours) would be likely to cure the problem.

we have yet to see,but he said if it didn't work no charge...can't say fairer than that!

some fibre wad shoots coming up over the next couple of weeks so we will see.

I'm away at the moment and got a text an hour ago from my wife who seemed very intrigued after postie delivered a tin of 'bore scrubber'.

Think she's expecting more housework now from me on my return ;)
