It seems as though I must report the demise of a once gifted and highly talented trap shooter.....the famous ips!

Apparently he has taken to fondling game guns, fallen in love with a dog (ok we've all done it guys), he is now talking side by sides!

I feel that we should all pay tribute to a once great trap shooter, he's now lost the plot! Pmsl!!!!!

Here here.......a once great Jedi tempted by the dark side!

As for falling in love with a dog! Speak for yourself!

Game season finishes on Saturday....Trap season starts on Monday!    Unfortunately ABT at 30deg, UT with snake system and British Shooting in charge of OT. :frown:

I have just seen this and have thought long and hard about a suitable literary riposte. Unfortunately I cant think of one but just you wait, your all now on an ips list.

it is of course all true, I love my dog I cannot deny it, working her has been a wonderful experience and my first time game shooting was highly memorable. As for sporting yes I prob will have a go before the phessie season in order to hone my lacking skills at anything other than a trap target hopefully with a SxS if Westley can teach me to shoot a double trigger. Last game shoot sat without eze as she now in season then knuckle down to OT training for this years campaign.

Ah.....he's back.....so are the lists it seems! All we need is a video of the famous ips trying to master a double trigger. I'm also looking forward to seeing him in the tweed shooting suit. Tally ho chaps!

I have quite a bit of tweed in the wardrobe I will have you know but never been asked to do THAT sort of video before.

It is often said in game shooting and 'doggy' circles, you can criticise the shooter but NEVER their dog  !

Fred, you told me a long time ago that you and I had seen shootings best days. The above confirms it I'm afraid.

Give you a laugh about double trigger guns. When I first started shooting trap I did not have a gun but a friend said he would bring an old skeet gun he had kicking around. Anyway I takes his gun and blitzed the first target out, amazing it was choked Sk&Sk. The second target however I missed first barrel and then tried to change the position of my first finger onto the second triggerof course the target by now was just approaching Paris :) same with the third and fifth targets had to give up and borrow another gun.... of course being a stupid ejit I did not think of putting my second finger on the second trigger and using the gun as it should be   have never used a double trigger gun since.

Double triggers are never used both fingers...being independant firing systems the outcome is certain...48gm of shot.

Really I never knew that 40UP I was told that was the method. How the hell do you use the things? I gave up after half a dozen targets.

I think Mattarelli's sidelock in '64 was still a double trigger. Stems from live pigeon for reliability I believe. Wonko can probably update us.

Two fingers ............... ruddy ell don't confuse matters further

Keith I think I am in big trouble
