All my guns are auto safety. its just part of my routine to take it off before I call pull so its never been a problem for me missing a shot because I forgot to take it off but I do completely agree that the only safe gun is an unloaded one, I don't rely on it as far as safety goes I just think as Pugs says its an extra safety feature i'd rather have, Just my view

I cannot imagine a situation where using a safety at a shooting range would be appropriate.  Ever.
I had my auto safety removed from my game gun as I could not see the point. As has been said it only locks the trigger blade it does NOT make a loaded gun safe....per seh

I get more concerned over a lack of muzzle awareness, like trying to eject the fired cartridge cases into a bin and waving the gun all over the show, in order to achieve this. I have yet to find a shooting competition where I have been awarded more points for hitting the bin with my empties !

I'm quite the opposite. My 725 came with auto safety and I left it on.

It's a part of my preshot routine now it's so embedded. It's a part of closing the gun for me now, feels strange shooting other guns with a non auto safety.

A safety on a competition gun is as much use as **** on a tomcat.

Something is puzzling me with this tale?  1. Why did he take the stock off the gun? 2. Perazzi detachable triggers have the hammers on them, how did the gun discharge with nothing to strike the firing pins? 3. I have never seen a gun seize. Up,I have seen them jammed by a firing pin piercing the cap of a cartridge?  But then I'm just a simple old count whole knows nothing!

I should have said "with a little difficulty"  MX 12 have non detatchable triggers! MX8 you push the safety right forward and pull the assemby out by the trigger guard.

So I was told , the chap was desperate to make his gun safe and amongst all the well meaning advice , was 'take the stock off to see inside' but actually what had happened was a small part was jamming the hammers and as he realeased the trigger mechanism , it then discharged .
