The mechanicals are essentially identical, the only real difference is the recoil spring is in the stock on a Benelli and around the mag tube on the Franchi.  I have shot both and they perform the same.    A couple of weeks ago I was out with 2 friends who have an M2 and the other a Montefeltro. All 3 performed the same just slightly different configuration on the rib for the Monte and the M2 was a 10 shot.

They shoot similar to a Remington 1100 but you don't have to clean out the gas piston components.

I have no idea what is happening to me. Today I took delivery of a long sleeve cammo t shirt (it was chuffing hot in me green fleece yesterday) and now seriously considering an auto. I am losing the plot. My only defence is the necessity of tools for a specific job.

do not tell my old mate les, he will never let me forget it
Ha.....cammo......I'm now very concerned! I can only imagine what the next few months will bring. You're clearly turning into one of those urban wotsit things. What next, face mask, balaclava, combat trousers?

I have the face mask mesh it be and jolly good at keeping flies away ?

So is Jungle Formula  !  I have a small bottle of aforementioned in every bag, Oh and 1 in the car too. I also have a small bottle of wasp-eeze in each bag. I thankfully, have never needed the wasp-eeze, BUT I have encountered plenty who have been grateful to use it  !

get yourselves ready for impending "ips does xxxx" post available soon on a forum near you.

gulp...

PMLS. next it will be "IPS does 3 gun competition"
What??????  He's bad enough with one gun!!! Perhaps IPS does AR15, or IPS does muzzle loading! Maybe he will do IPS does Napoleonic Re enactment. I shudder to think what he will do next!

watch this space for the next installment ?

As I have got back into some pigeon / vermin shooting and didn't want to bugger my DT10 in the hide, I bought a Hatsan semi auto and despite the many comments about them a pile of rubbish, this one shot very well handling 21 - 32gr shells with no issues.......................BUT I just didn't get on with it's handling. Yes it was a pain in the rear collecting all the cartridge cases up after the session but I fell that on many occasions I was over leading the birds as the gun was faster and lighter to use.

Eventually I gave up on the semi auto idea and bought a cheap but user friendly Sabatti o/u which does what I want it to do and it feels like it should for me at any rate.

My youngest daughter loved the the semi auto on DTL targets and really hoped she was getting one for her 21st but that didn't happen.

I am an old tart who is on state pension and wished the auto worked for me but it didn't so long live the o/u and whilst I am not on a zimmer frame my DT10 will be the order of the day although I did get chance to try a Beretta DT11ACS 32''...............................oooer, I am in love again and NEED a lotto win.

I like it more than I thought but so far I see no real benefit other than they are very cheap. I don't buy into the recoil issue but I have never suffered from recoil. It does seem to handle quite well (although I haven't really put much through it yet) presumably the single barrell makes it light up front and resistance during the swing will be reduced. Anyway time will tell but I enjoy having it as I haven't had one before. I wish the cartridges I have actually had some shot in them as they obviously do not....

Oh I know that feeling Ian, I get it a great deal when I am after the pigeon and crows................

I wouldn't mind but they didn't tell me they were blanks when I bought them

Right at frightening !!

I came to this late so ..............

I have to admit to my shame that I did at one time use a 303 for a few weeks.  I had just come to NorCal and didn't have a place yet where I could stash the guns so a local I knew loaned me his 303 to use in the interim.  Actually it was a nice shooter and I shot it as well as anything but I just could not come to terms with the lever flapping around in front of my face.  Other than that .........

And the word around here too is that the 303 didn't need to be improved upon or replaced and hasn't been.

the mechanics take some getting used to Charlie, not sure if I ever will but its a tool for a job ?

There must still be thousands of 303 Enfields in the UK alone Charlie! Still very popular with some guys, I used one about thirty years ago. So perhaps it will soon be IPS does full bore!??  God help us!!
