So, it seems Dubai isn't happening in 2016. Great place for a holiday; I'm not sure the shoot ever really appealed to me, but academic now.

So, I have never shot abroad and am thinking of the Seminole Cup 2-6 March 2016, South Georgia. I recall hearing that it's great fun, great organisation. If anybody has been, I would be glad to hear about how it works and how it is.

The Seminole Cup was previously held in central Florida (At Quail Creek Plantation) for several years, and they always did a great job of hosting the event.

In 2014, The Seminole Cup moved to Sea Island/Broadfield in South Georgia.  Jon Kent is the manager of the Club, and Jon and his entire crew pulled out all of the stops to host a great event, particularly for their first big shoot.  The shooting grounds are enormous - I recall the figure of 2,800 acres of property, but could be slightly off on that number.  Suffice it to say, they have all of the room they need - and more!

I understand that the 2015 Seminole Cup will have courses in different areas than last year.  I am sure that Jon will go all out again to make this a great event for all shooters.

The main airport closest to the grounds is Jacksonville International (JAX).  It might be easier for you to fly into Orlando International (MCO) and just drive up the Interstate.

Florida becomes a shooter's mecca in February, with large shoots on virtually every weekend for the month before the Seminole Cup. You can go onto winscoreonline.com and look up the shoots: Krieghoff Classic in Palm City, FL on February 4 - 7; Caribbean Classic in Vero Beach, FL on February 10 - 16; The Gator Cup in Okeechobee, FL on February 17 - 21 (at Quail Creek where the previous Seminole Cup Championships were held); and the Florida Challenge in Graham, FL (very close to the 2015 Seminole Cup location) on February 25 - 28.

For us northern US guys (I live in Minnesota... not a great place in February...) these Florida shoots offer a great chance to knock the rust off the barrels, and enjoy the sunshine.  For you Brits, it might mean the same - nothing beats a nice, sunny day... :smile:

If you are interested in the Seminole, it makes sense to come the weekend before and shoot the Florida Challenge, as well.  Get the most out of that international ticket.  There are only 2 days in between.  These are two excellent shoots that I highly recommend.

Orlando to Bradford is only about 2 hrs.  Bradford to the Seminole is another 2 hrs so they are very close.

The Florida Challenge at Bradford has one of our best target setters and is one of our favorites.  They maintain 3 full-time courses and will have 5stand, subgauge and 100 Fitasc, as well.  Then two days off to travel and get registered at Seminole.  It would be a worthwhile trip.

Check your hire car t+c's as many do not allow travel across state border. So if you go into Orlando , Florida , you may not be able to go across to south Georgia. Well not without coughing up some extra dollars. Mine had this clause hidden in the small print last year.

And, Rollins is totally correct:  it makes sense to shoot the Florida Challenge at Bradford the weekend before the Seminole Cup.  There are already over 200 shooters registered for the Seminole, so it should be a great event.

Do people take cartridges with them or buy them out there?

Do they follow the same CPSA classification system as the UK, so a C class shooter here could shoot in a C class out there?

Just buy them here at the shoot.

Classes are the same, except AAA is called Master here.  Someone else can correct me, but I'm pretty sure you shoot in the same class.

I am not positive, but I think that CPSA shooters are moved up one class when shooting NSCA events. I believe this is because there are seven classes in NSCA, and only four in the CPSA.

When there is a major event (like the World English, for example), AAA class is added in the CPSA shooters so as to coordinate with NSCA and it's Master class. 

I know there are lots of UK shooters that have shot in NSCA events, so hopefully someone can properly answer that question for you. 

As for Ammo, there will be plenty of options for you to purchase at the Club.  Or, you can buy ammo at a sporting goods store in the area.  We don't have any license requirements or anything like that here in the US for the purchase of shotgun Ammo.

Were Booked in to the Seminole Cup (after squirling cash away for Dubi which sad to say is not happening :bye: ) and after taken advice from Nick trutter very helpful (many thanks Nick top bloke), and liaised with the ground, Shereen (our point of contact) has been brilliant at organising the event and giving Bill & Ben information etc, seems to me from the outside this shooting ground can't do enough for you which is brilliant, so can't wait now for a bit of sunshine,   :brr: ..... and first time shooting in the states..
