I almost went. :D

Trouble is I don't like to book too far ahead and these days the mid week shoots are always full by the time I try to book. Note to self: Get a grip man!
We were lucky, we only booked the evening before as two spaces became available.

Orston for me on Sunday, first time there in a couple of years. Great set of targets even with the wind. Finished on an 83 and that was with one stand with 5 away, just couldn't get a plan sorted for a good distance springing teal on stand 7 and dropped 3 of the B birds on stand 6. Started shooting just before 1 on my own and got done in under an hour, great set of refs and had a good few chats on the way round. Just a handful light of a decent score but very enjoyable visit.

Owls Lodge yesterday for the CG 120 bird super sporting. Good shoot, 12 stands of 10, 2 x singles, 2 sets of on report and 2 sets of sim pairs on each stand. Some of the sim pairs were a tad tricky and a few of the pink and green targets were hard to see until last minute but enjoyed it. Stand 11 I didn’t go too much on, couldn’t see the targets from left as the stand was back from normal place and you are standing with the hut on the left of you and by the time I saw the rabbit it was behind the bush which I couldn’t see over. Anyway, I had a fair few cartridges through the bush which cut it down a bit so should be a bit easier for you shorties who are shooting it on Saturday!!!!

Will Fenner finished on 119 which was phenomenal and I was shooting the squad behind Josh Brown who put in a 116 but didn’t see any other scores before we left.

It was nice to be shooting in the sun and not having to wear water/wind proofs!

Our paths must of crossed 😜
I was in Josh’s squad. Hope all you ladies enjoyed it!
Good steady shoot as you say, one layout got me, the others were ones and two’s away 🙈

I think I was talking to you re your KRIEGHOFF top? If so, nice meeting you.
Yes, all us ladies enjoyed it, hadn’t shot with Fran or Pat before but we all helped each other out!

A windy day in the North East and was a bit cold. Excuses excuses, 59-100 and the positive was that I beat my 2 partners. Course had quite a different feel to it with a lot of significant changes, much more difficult generally but very much wind affected. Never mind, until next time.

South of England DTL at the NCSC for me yesterday… in half decent weather, the first competition that I have shot in fair weather this year!

Finished on 279/300 after needing to use the second barrel 8 times and only dropping 4 birds in total. Also had my first 25/25 so was very happy with that. Finished 3rd in B class.

Gunsite again for me, BTW there's a lack of choice in my area that Gatton Bottom helped to fill, I know it got bad press on this site, but while they are not doing Reg shoots it's just one less place to shoot and, of course, there's nothing new to take it's place.
Anyway - Gunsite: stand 1 which was a pretty soft 5 pairs to ease us into things, I dropped 2 which just shows I need a stand or two to get my head together (should have done the pool shoot as I normally do.)
Stand three was interesting, a 60 yard rising Midi R to L, fast but slowing down followed by an apologetic 25 yard R to L crosser. I was thinking don't overlead the midi and I hit the first one but the other three were mysteriously lost. Everything else went pretty well. Stand 12 - I dropped 2 of the OR pair of quartering inward rabbits, dropped 2 on stand 6 which I can't even remember, and I lost a few singles to end on 87 which made it a red letter day for me, if I hit 80 at Gunsite I'm usually content.
Spotted Sian on stand 1 as I was leaving and noticed Will put in a score in the 90's so well done Will
The average score was 79
The winning score was 97 (RF)

Martin. I shot Langs a few weeks ago and the first stand was two incoming quartering clays which I didn't bother thinking about. Dropped 3 for a 5 when it would normally be an 8 or disappointed 7. You are right about getting your head together but I wonder whether it's an 'easy' bird too early thing as well.

OK Freddy, I see your point but I think I'd rather get into the groove on a simple-ish stand than say stand three. A couple of easy birds dropped tend to make you pay more attention whereas one just accepts losses on tricky targets.

Shot the Swinton Cup at EJ Churchill Swinton Estate on Saturday. What a lovely ground that is and what great targets they put on. Well worth the long drive and if you haven’t shot that competition what out for it next year. Comparatively good value at £55 for 120 birds.

Was I behaving myself 😂. I had 3 disastrous stands and the rabbit stand half marks was my 4th disaster so my card was no good. Stand 3 I overcooked the midi, it was one of my disasters. Had a report pair afterwards and realised what I did. A very bad one for me was the going away on report teal. I managed a 2 I think. The weird thing for me is that I did quite a few stands really well like a robot almost and then I go and mess up so badly.

One place I’d love to go to and shoot, only heard good things about it. May have to look at other shoots in the area and make a weekend or a few days away as it’s a long way for us.

Thimbleby is reasonably close to Swinton. Both really nice places.

(y)(y)I think most people were missing the midi in front because it started off so fast
The teal was easy to miss, not because it was difficult but because we tend to rush it

Who is shooting the Essex Masters next week?

I am their on Thursday is anyone is around.
