Andy

Some stuff on trap section about UT but the main thing is to let the target pass your barrel before you move otherwise you are in danger of (a) moving to fast and missing in front or (b. going the wrong way as you see it in your peripheral vision. Pick a point, a rock or clay fragment or tuft of grass etc about 10m in front of peg 3 and use this as hold point on all pegs, this is a very approx measurement so be prepared to adapt it accordingly but you get the idea.

Double rise, high hold and ambush the first one(the straightest one)as soon as you can then take the second instinctively don't try and give it lead etc, try and get on peg 4 or 5 then you can visualise the target before its your turn (very important)

Good luck to both of you full report on sunday evening please when you have dried out,

Ian,

I have a look in the UT trap section. So for the hold point you use a single one for a 5 pegs?

I have shoot DR once before managed over 50 % so was happy with that.

Andy, all targets will cross in front of peg 3 so trap 1 and 2 on your left will throw right handers 4 and 5 left handers and 3 is a straight ish so all targets will cross at a point in front of 3 you need to find this crossing point which will be something like the 10m in front that I mentioned (but remember "something like") and use it as a reference from all pegs that way your barrels are always at the optimum point to start your swing. This crossing point varies a little from ground to ground layout to layout and of course the scheme but the above is the general idea. Watch the squad before you and whatch the shooters in front of you and try to find this point if for whatever reason you cannot then use my 10m out which will be something like. I emphasize again "let the target go past your barrel before you move" this is critical.

Ian,

I understand now forgot the bit about the target crosing in front of peg 3. I will catch up with Nic before hand in any case.

I will report back on how much fun or not was had.

Wish I was close I would join you, I love DR.

Look forward to a full report.

My God jay, how you have changed, and what big ears you now have...what happened ?

I'd like to shoot more Skeet & DTL this year.

Had a little foray into both and enjoyed, so we'll see what happens.

Results and full report asap please I am itching to know how you all got on.

No results page on the ground website, odd ?

Ian Just for you,

We had the double rise first, tis was a 60 bird comp, which when we shot it, Jay was also in my squad, it was blowing a gale and to make matters worse we had rain and then Hail stones, it was that bad that the targets were being blown all over, and it was blowing the barrels off fom my hold point to the right, which meant fighting them against the wind to get on the first bird. So only 25 ex 60 there.

Next up UT, a 50 bird comp this time, no rain this time but still very windy but a bit brighter. On my squad again was Jay and joining in was Jason McClean from here, As stated earlier this was the first time for me and the hints from heare and from Jay helped out no end. Started on peg 4 so had a chance to view 3 birds before hand and get a veiw on the lines, tried using the pick a spot method but as thecomp went on this was more dificult due to amount of orange bits on the floor. Well at the end of the first round I had a 23 ex 25. A very short break enough time to refill with cartridges and off we went again. this time I think I suffered a bit from shooting the next round so quickly, I didn't bring a drink along strange really as I normally do this for DTL, and most of my misses were near the end of the round.

So ended with a 18 ex 25 for a total od 41 ex 50.

The Hampshire UT champ needed a shoot off as Andy and Ben Gorge both shot 46 ex 50, which Andy Gorge one after a shoot off.

You shot the ut very well andy particularly considering it was all new to you. DR sounds like it was horrendous.

thsnks for the report, tinker doesn't want to talk about it so ssshhhhh

Don't think I'll be trying anything new....haven't got to grips with the  one I already do.....

Yes the DR was pretty tasty especially when that black hail cloud decided to join in ! I finished on 34/60 for DR and 44/50 on the UT.

44 is a very tidy score jay especially in this weather, well shot. Double rise in any wind will always be difficult generally you get one target that curls a bit even when its calm so i can imagine how hard it must have been.

I think you should Andy, 23 and 18 in this weather and first time is brilliant shooting.

I think you should Andy, you looked very smooth shooting it, routine consistent, shot timing all regular etc
