If there was the option to enter class/category then both results lists are correct. Two of the top 12 'C' class shooters finished 3rd and 4th in the colts.

Class or category....That old chestnut again.  :)

i think its right poor when the big prize fund isnt paid out, Midlands Grand Prix have stated they retain the right to amend and alter prize fund without notice

They have GOT to have that option...imagine only 40 shooters turn up and the prize fund needs 200 to break even, it's a huge risk running a big shoot, get real!!!

schmokinn, dry your eyes, you do nothing but ***** and complain on here, I have a feeling Southdown know your a moaning prick and that's why they replied the way they did...
That goes both ways though - why not just say dependent on X number of entries so its clear? This event had 380 entries and as it was a set entry fee I assume that means no B/O option.

Reputation or not that is no way to respond to any paying customer especially in this day and age of social media where comments like that end up seen by the entire community.

P.S. Are you sure you dont work for Southdown as those replies seem pretty similar to the way you speak to people on here?

They tempt you in with a headline offer and a fixed return, then pull the rug out at there discretion. They have got to have that option for sure.

Easist option is to just stop going to the biggies if this bothers people.

You really are a bit sad James sending abuse from miles away,but i am sure one day with a bit of help from some grown ups you will manage a positive and constructive post.

I post my experiences good and bad the balance varies according to what happens in the world which is beyond my control,it may have been on somewhat of a downward spiral but being positive that means the only was is up.

Because i say what other people think but don't act on you don't like me...fine will be such a great loss as your opinion means so little to me now.

"They have GOT to have that option" yes fine but that needs to be stated,personally i don't think they would have had any less entries if they had advertised a £10,000 prize fund but if you advertise something you must provide it.

Have a nice day James and see if you can cheer up a bit.

Lets hope your interjection doesn't derail discussion  :D

I must be lucky as i have shot many "biggies" and never really seen it,they have the Benelli Auto and the Clayshooting Classic soon...i am pretty sure they will be as advertised.

I think it is probably affected by sponsorship so if a company has there name on the shoot it is as advertised...if it is just the ground its down to luck?

Darkside I think that's a little unfair. The original post was a perfectly reasonable one. It would appear that Schmokinn has a strong point, and he has highlighted it on a forum. He made a point about a cancelled shoot a couple of weeks ago which was perfectly reasonable, too.

You are a weird one James, fair bit of shooting knowledge, acceptable grammar and funny turn of phrase and at times able to present an interesting side into a debate and yet you continually derail posts by being provocatively rude when it's perfectly clear the OP has a valid point. I am no prude when it comes to profanity and will happily engage in street talk most foul till the cows come home if some plonker makes the mistake of choosing that path over decent debate here or elsewhere BUT I have reported your post and hopefully it will be removed and allow the debate to get back on track.
I go for this Hammy , I know you are to polite to say so. He is an arsehole who, from time to time, likes to come over as some sort of intellectual .

Can i make it clear to anyone that may wonder i have no favouritism when it comes to grounds,i shoot at many and have no bias.

I like to shoot different grounds for the variety of targets sometimes i get beaten up by them but i don't complain about that as they are the same for everyone.

What i do have is fair expectations and voice my disappointment when these are not met,when i believe it may not be the grounds fault i will say so but for me the ground is responsible overall in most cases be it them or their employees that may have caused the issue.

Charles, I think your giving him too much credit, I think schmokinn is just straining at the leash, waiting in his next opertunity to have a pop at certain grounds...
Bizarre then that he has not long ago suggested I visit the self same ground. That's not having a pop it's a recommendation!

Why are you 'stunned'...???

Have been asked by a few what the prizes are,who won them,etc lots of people seem to be wondering about the 30.000 prize fund?
so are you saying you will not be listing the winners and prizes?

TUES 20:21

Will post for you but office is closed till tmrw so bear with me ... hate to disappoint you but as you are so keen to see who beat you how could I possibly resist ..... would you also like a full breakdown of the cost to us to put on a Competition for your hobby to enjoy ?????
And ????

In class :
1st= £500 cash or FREE ENTRY TO ALL SDGC COMPETITIONS for 1 yr
2nd = £250 cash or 1500 NSI PRIMA CARTS
3rd= £ 175 cash or 1000 NSI PRIMA CARTS
4th = £100 cash or 500 NSI PRIMA CARTS
5th = £ 87.50 or 250 NSI CARTS
6th = £75.oo
7th = JP fleece colour and choice of winner
8th = gilet as above
9th= gun slip as above
10th = bb cap from Jph , colour of choice

Now I know you weren't lucky enough to win any of these but I hope it makes sense , see  you at the classic ?? ?????

Breakdown of loss overall to follow if you need some light reading ??

Think i may have touched a nerve "hate to disappoint you but as you are so keen to see who beat you how could I possibly resist ..... would you also like a full breakdown of the cost to us to put on a Competition for your hobby to enjoy ?????"

So it becomes obvious that they are not paying out the stated prize fund,will be lucky if they paid out half!  :angry:

================================

I think a lot of people would be stunned at such dismissive and rude response when asking a simple question.

...depends on who's asking the question.
Like how ? A paying customer who had shot the competition has asked for a list of winners and quite rightly the breakdown of how they'd arrived at £30,000...........nothing depends on anything here.

Truth be told it must become routine for shoot organisers to publish these post shoot results anyway and they must add up to the figures advertised, if prizes depend on a certain number being reached then that too must be clearly advertised.

It's a good point you raise there Hamster. It's frustrating to enter even a local small shoot and then wait ages to find out what the winning score was. It's nothing to do with actually winning anything - round here the small ones might hand out a trophy of some sort or a bottle of wine or a box of cartridges - it's to do with attempting to gauge your performance on the day against your peers. I have occasionally shot rather better or worse than usual, and a glance at the scores will rapidly put that into context.

The particular ground in question is one I have never visited, I have no axe to grind. But it's a disappointing story.

I've hidden some posts and removed a user - now the thread doesn't make a lot of sense, but I'll leave it here for now.

Keep it civil and constructive guys.

I still think 8's are best unless we're talking over 60 + yards and edge on in which case I'd go 9's.

Ahh don't forget to use a skeet choke for that ..... Bigger spread so more chance of  a chip  :wink:

So much for the new CPSA ruling of prize breakdown transparency. I would at least report it to the CPSA. Seems like you can just make up a nice big figure to advertise your shoot.
I'd definitely report this to CPSA and attach the full convocation with the ground owners.

I've always been a fan of Southdown and regularly shoot there, but that's simply not acceptable!

I was well out of the prizes but kept looking to find a prize break down as £30,000 seemed a lot when place prizes were just cheap gun slips / hats etc.

But to be as rude as the management was over a simple question of wanting a list of prize winners, I think it's clear to see that not all the prize fund was paid out!

Will make a lot of people think twice before shooting here again!

Sad really ? why grounds do this seems a little iffy to say the least , mind the CPSA dont publish a full prize list for their English or British opens and these are majority wise pre paid and numbers are in >?? prize funds could be posted at the ground , so we can all see what and where it goes ?? after all it's our money ...

nothing to hide ....then hide nothing !
