Also went to Gatton Bottom.  Managed a registered PB of 74.  Should have been more as I made some silly misses.  Only stand I really didn't get on with was Stand 1.  Couldn't hit the slow battue.  The OH shot really well today and also got a PB of 81.  Think he might be in with a chance in C class.

Oh hang on.. was that you I spoke to on stand 1 then? Long hair? (You not me..). That ref was great wasn't he. Very vocal with bad tips..

It was, I thought I recognised you but didn't want to say in case I'd got it wrong.  Saw you again later on Stand 11 as well, think you shot after me.

I'm having no problem at all at the moment on the quicker targets and longer crossers that need a bit of lead.  If they'd wound the spring up on the battue I probably would have hit it.  The slow ones and the low angled incomers were where I dropped most targets today.  Something to remember for when I see Ed next month.

Just back from Gatton. Decided to go later as weather forecast was better and it was heavy rain at home early doors. Arrived 11:30 and was done in under 1.5 hours. Bumped into Hamid on 1 as I walked back to the car and he had started an hour earlier!! Managed to stay dry other than a bit of light drizzle toward the end.

Matched yesterdays score of 86. Messed up stand 4 missing three of the going away loopers over the top even after telling myself to push under it. Just could not engage brain.  Stand 10 simo I got stuck deciding which bird to take first. By the time I had worked out trailing bird first I had dropped 3. Stand 11 was nailing them then a late release on 1st bird on one pair and then on the 2nd caught me out. Other than those stands pretty happy. Last time B class was won with 91 but fingers crossed ?

Nice to see some of you there today, 260 miles return journey but enjoyed it very much, no disaster stands ended on 89 but just a thought about that split incomer pair which I feel is just a tad unfair on the elderly. I watched one old boy refuse to tackle the second bird and although I managed to straight it I could see why as each pair was giving me noticeable back strain on the second bird.
Think my swollen and very sore knee is the result of that stand. Twisting around to shoot the second bird, probably due to wrong foot position.

Well done again. That's two days in a row you've beaten me.. saw you on stand 3 shooting as I was leaving. Well done, I thought it was tricky today..

Two and half hours to get round Horne today  , I feel sorry for the setter upper because on the rabbit stand a tree root had managed to appear as if by magic   in the exact route the ultra close and fast rabbit was thrown which caused a massive bottle neck as it meant every shooter had to have extra targets as they kept either breaking or launching into the air. I can't imagine the root was there this morning. Nice enough round bar all the waiting.

I got round quick, starting at 10, but it was building up in places at the end. That rabbit stand; I hit the first rabbit about a millisecond after it broke on the root, so smashed it just after it had already broken technically but given as a kill, which was morally right. Next two I powdered. Then I had three in a row that broke on the root, so when the last one finally survived I hung on it waiting for it to break and missed it. Grrr..

We all know rabbits can be rather unfair if you get a jumper or two but this particular problem was so avoidable, it must have eaten up a good bit of profit. After waiting for 40 minutes to shoot it I did well to nail them before the tree root but shooting unnecessarily fast has its own drawbacks.

Only no-rabbit I got wasn't because of the tree root.  I had one that for some reason came rolling out from behind the tree really slowly and then fell over. Think it had myxi.  Only missed the first one, taken my hold point too far to the right and it got away from me.  The rest I hit before the root.

That wasn't you I spoke to briefly on stand 12 about needing a baseball bat for that myxi rabbit?

Not sure.  Short female, K80 baseball cap and a long ponytail.  I was shooting with a tall bloke with a beard and brown hat.

I should have stayed at home tucked up in bed surrounded by cats and sipping Lemsip but no I wake up at 4pm because I can't sleep and went to Gunsite and Westfield.  Didn't feel I did either shoot justice and Westfield was challenging and I wasn't really in the mood to be challenged.  Then had to drive from Westfield to Guildford and then home - an extremely long day.

Sometimes less is more. I shoot a lot of comps these days, but it was Ed Solomons who said "don't go shooting just because it's Sunday".

That's easy to say when you do lots of weekday shoots ?  if timing was better I would prefer to shoot Westfield first.  Just a head cold but just makes everything feel ten times heavier and harder today.

Just sometimes, I realise my best performance will be at the local Thai buffet and shooting can wait. Hard to decide usually.

"That ref was great wasn't he. Very vocal with bad tips.."

think he must be new, noticed him at Court Farm last week, just wouldn't shut up. Doesn't the no coaching rule apply to refs as well?
.. Tbf the one guy he gave advice to in front of me had missed all of the first bird. Advice was you have a lot more time than you think. Not really as was going past the left pillar of the stand.

Still better than the sulky young girls who say nothing at all. There is one lad, thin build with black hair and thin beard who is usually up the top end and is always chirpy and actually has a smile on his face.

Enjoyed Gunsite as always bumped into Sian and Tony, 83 in C won me class but i really thought at on point i was going to break the magic ( for me anyway) 90 didn't get one of the battue on the right just got in front and moved further away and got my hold point wrong on stand 3.

Then to Westfield that was testing and shot poorly right to left off the tower wrecked my card just could not find the first bird, think it did for a few people.

A day of ups and downs ;)
