Went to Barbury with Dannymac, we both did quite well! Had great time, and shot 61 which i think is not bad for my first time there. Really did struggle on rabbits, in fact I seem to always struggle with them! Overall, nice layout and really good atmosphere. Certainly will be coming back there again!

Went to Owls as well. Started off well enough straighting first 3 stands al though one of those was a miss first bird but get both with 2nd shot. Then the wheels fell off. Hit 1 on stands 4 & 5. On 5 did not hit that battue once. Onto 6 and hit the first bird well only to have several no birds on the 2nd and typically missed the 1st on the retry and simo so target lost. Other than that the yellow R-L down the bank I missed all 3 - found it really hard to pick up. Ended on a poor 68. My scores are like a yoyo at the moment.

Horne at Court Farm today for 79. Smashed first two pairs on a sim pair (going away and l-r crosser) then lost my head and missed three pairs. But for that it would have been a PB. Really need to sort my concentration out. As soon as I start thinking I'm doing really well I eff it up.

My husband shot really well this morning for a PB f 88.

Four Counties this morning, which I shot much of very well, but had a shocker on some sim high aways, dropping 4. Particularly stupid as I barely changed what I did (needed to get way under it and just didn't). Then just one away on six other stands. Three of those were soppy ones. Grrr.. 90 sounds OK but it was really 7 stupid misses..

AAARGH. Turns out I was 2 off HG. Note to self: Don't randomly shoot 1 stand like massive knob.

Drove down to Bath, Stew Keen asleep all way en-route ? so a pleasant journey south to shoot Meadowcroft, was & felt a bit chilly, autumn has arrived it seems. Bit quiet, many of the locals trekking to Podimore to shoot the regions InterCounties Sporting, Big smile at booking in as I had a 2nd place prize to pick up? That was very soon wiped off as dropped 7 on first two stands ? Plodded on through, did manage two straights amongst the losses, Stew however was shooting very well and found a welcome return to his "usual" form a good 88, and this old codger 76 which I was chuffed with, more so in seeing it was leading C when i left ? Think 91 was at this point high gun, mind you a fair few scores still to come in

College Farm this morning. A great course. I managed to straight the sim ducks stand which was catching many out, so maybe my score will be up there. I reckon a 95 will win it, so I'm two light, but won't know until it finishes on Friday pm..

So a return to honesberie today. Very good layout. Not easy ,always seems windy there but no stupid colours today. You can see they have worked very hard to bring their team of refs up to standard.

Much better .?

Jasper.

I heard Honesberie was good but firm. That's how it's been whenever I've been lately. I did Weston wood, which I would describe as a good medium/ firm affair. A sloppy 88 for me, with Julian Morris and Martin Myers on 99 and 98!

Urchfont today not really feeling it 4 away from class win.

A different ground with plenty if woods and some different presentations 35 yard rabbit 10 yards below you a few edgy dropping ones which i wasn't on today.

For a small club that only does a few registered a year they set some cracking targets and use the topography they have well, crossers 35 yards up across the top of a bank and incomers coming over one the same height.

Quartering rabbit with a way high looper which i hit on the first pair and couldn't find again.

Glad i made the effort even though not a 100%

Another busy weekend which started for me with Highwaymans on Friday - just out of the ladies prizes as came joint 6th with another.  Saturday at my local A C Sporting Targets and then Sunday Southdown for sporting 81/100, Sportrap 79/100 and then on to Horne where I would have won ladies had I gone in Ladies 77/100 - poor score and I'm tired of being beaten by wrong coloured clays on the wrong background - 3 stands today.

Weston wood for me today, had lost enthusiasm for my reg shooting due to a run of very poor scores.put a 92 in A today so that's lifted my spirits somewhat.getting there at 12.30 also meant we missed the queues.?
90? Still whipped me. ?

It was 92,i have an independent witness Will?,contacted Steve who said he'd check in a couple of weeks.so i guess the wrong score will be sent to cpsa and somehow will need to be corrected.i checked my card the usual 3 times.lesson learnt, always take a phone pic of your card.

Well shot! Wasn't that easy! I'd have taken that.. ??

Shot Garlands yesterday. Another technical shoot with tricky targets from Steve Lovatt.  I like his shoots I really do.  They always stretch me.  Unfortunately, this is a moan.  Rare that from a geordie.  We are always chirpy cheeky buggaz.   But here it is.

We were the last squad out yesterday and walked past all of the near stands as they had small squads on.  Thinking we could move along a lot quicker we went past the pond and around the bend to the field and found a lovely tower with a sim pair of fast L/R targets.  Nice and tasty to start on.  My lot went in and shot it all very well, with 6's and 7's.  Made it look easier than what it was.  I popped in and killed the first pair out.  Good start.  Then the trap went down.  I agreed to move along with the squad as it takes time to get up and fix a trap up the tower.  I shot the top pond and wood quite well and came back to the tower.  First pair out the trap had been wound up like a mad thing and the pair were bloody awful.  First bird on the broken trap coming out like a bullet compared to before.  REsult?...........2/8.  :yell:   I finished up on 79.  2 more clays and I would have won money.

Like I say........I don't complain much, and some could argue that I should have shot more.  BUT, this was not a level playing field.  this was a really difficult target.  Had everybody shot the same I wouldn't be moaning now.  My friend a AAA England shot, asked to have a go and went in and missed 6/6 until he found it.  If he can't hit it.........I bloody well can't unless I have at least 100 goes at it.

Sorry Mr Lovatt.  I really look forward to your shoots.  But something went awry here.

Not sure as I was at Weston wood , all I can guess is the main spring snapped and it was replaced with too much tension on it , but then the ref should know if the pair were the same , so sorry

Morning Steve

Sh1t happens chap.  Much appreciated you took the time to respond.  I really like your shoots as they always test me and that is how you get to become a better shot.  The prize money wasn't the thing, only a level playing field.  Of all the shoots that I go to.......you gain a clay and lose a clay here and there and it averages out, and in your defence this is not a regular occurrence.

So thanks a bunch Steve.  I am always the first to congratulate and the last to whinge.  Keep up the good work and keep on testing the shooters.

Much appreciated.

I went to Horne thinking it was a registered per CPSA bit it wasnt. Lesson learnt check their website not CPSA. Managed a few straights but dropped too many silly ones to finish on a lacklustre 78. Yet again I struggled on the crosser on the platform. I could see it I just have no idea where I am on it when I cant even hit one. Stand 1 the rabbit broke just before I pulled the trigger but I hit 2nd bird and then said to ref I will retake as rabbit broke before. Typical I then miss the repeat rabbit.

Which targets did you struggle to see as I cant remember any horrible ones?

I struggled seeing the green crosser up on the platform.  Small teal then bring gun down to try and find green clay on a green background - hit a few missed a few and that was purely because I just couldn't  pick it up properly.  An orange or white would have been okay.  Up in the last part of the shoot as you walk into the wooded area - on the right hand side, orange coming in on its side from quite far out across to the left - struggled to see that properly as well.  There was one more presentation but now can't remember it and even the one I did hit further down at the beginning where again it was coming in orange thing again hard to see.   Just need to think about the backgrounds and the colour clays they use.   I'm just tired of that.  The targets themselves - nothing there that was hard in terms of presentation.
