And tried jumping the queueKibworth today. Absolutely pelted down for two stands towards the middle, got drenched and to be honest didn't really enjoy it from that point on. Shot poorly, lots of slowing the gun up and not finishing the shot properly. Even had a trigger flinch. Finished on a disappointing 66. Should have been better.
Hey Donna, thanks for the congratulationsYou should do the Essex Masters, the best shoot of the year, 200 targets over 2 courses of 100. People normally book up for next year as they are leaving it’s that good. Best course setter around imo.
Well done. Which one did you struggle on? The pair of high driven on 11 and the driven and fast away target over the hedge on 12 were pretty tough stands.Shot the final fixture of the cpsa premier league today at sporting targets and over the moon with shooting another pb , it should have been a low 70’s score but let a few silly targets escape and royally messed up one stand which left me on 68/100, really happy with how I shot today and hoping it continues.
As it happens I didn’t do to badly (for me) on stand 11, I think the high driven where stand 10 I got 1Well done. Which one did you struggle on? The pair of high driven on 11 and the driven and fast away target over the hedge on 12 were pretty tough stands.
Targets on 2 and 6 were similar. First bird on both needed about twice the lead of the second. Personally I needed to make sure I pushed the gun through to the end of the shot on the left to rights on both of those. As it happens I didn’t do to badly (for me) on stand 11, I think the high driven where stand 10 I got 1, A few stands annihilated my card
I’ll add my card bellow so you can see.

Stand 9 quartering overhead straight into the sun in the morning was piss-poor target setting at Honesberie. Sim pair on 10 wasn't great either, with the second bird having to be a matter of chucking the gun at it and being lucky.First shoot was Grange and I finished on 87 but that included 5 inexcusable misses in the final pairs. It was a user friendly shoot where consistency was needed rather than big gaps.
Then on to Honesberie where it was a slightly firmer but still user friendly course. There were a couple of targets that could catch you out if you got complacent. I only managed 82 which was partly due to really concentrating at the first shooting and feeling a bit tired for the second.
Great to put a face to the forum name of @Geordieboy as well!
I'll be honest, it was quite fun breaking clays yesterday. It's nice to have days like that mixed in with the harder shoots.
I shot it in the afternoon so did not have anything in the sun. You're right, the sun is predictable so targets in to the sun are inexcusable.Stand 9 quartering overhead straight into the sun in the morning was piss-poor target setting at Honesberie. Crosser then dropper. Three people in front of me scored 3 or less. I was quite happy with my 7 to be honest. I did think about trying it the other way, but was concerned that the crosser would have disappeared out of sight behind the hedge.I shot it in the afternoon so did not have anything in the sun. By your description of stand 10 i'm guessing you took the crosser before the dropper? That's how I took it but as long as you addressed the crosser quickly rather than riding it out to the 'comfy' kill point it gave enough time to take on the orange dropper.
I tried a couple pairs the other way around as well (dropper then crosser) and it was shootable that way as well.
Looking at the results you should have gone competition rather than birds onlyFor various reasons life has been pretty full on for weeks so yesterday I just said bugger it and got the gun out for the first time in 2 months and went to Gunsite. Lots of friendly faces and the usual good atmosphere for one of Sean's a well crafted courses. Everything hittable - albeit a few longish targets which didn't suit some folks - and no real sun problems. Watched a couple of AAs trip up on the long midi on stand 2 which was probably the only really testing target. Strangely I didn't feel too rusty, despite the layoff and managed to do okay on all but 1 stand. (Even worked out the long midi).
Shot above my average and went home late but happy.
TBH I simply like shooting registered events more than practice days, but for me it's mostly about leisure rather prizes or chasing averages.Looking at the results you should have gone competition rather than birds only![]()
I shot it Dropper then the crosser, more because I could see the Orange dropper through the trees. I shot 9 on that stand.I shot it in the afternoon so did not have anything in the sun. You're right, the sun is predictable so targets in to the sun are inexcusable.
