I have a motorbike, and a sports car,  and already miss being able to go for a run.  What harm would it cause?  I am isolated and would only get petrol at some self service station and so have zero contact.

BUT ....  What I do (or what YOU do), others will follow.  Others may be less diligent.  I will have demonstrated disregard for the most clear and concise instructions from the highest authority in the land and undermined everything that is being done that may potentially safe many many lives.  In short I would be a selfish ****.

Time for driving/shooting/whatever will come again, for most of us...

Sorry gents but the last two posts are just ridiculous! We have a responsibility to do the right thing for the nation and that means STAY AT HOME,the grounds that ran last weekend in my view potentially brought our sport into disrepute, why should we be out having fun whilst the rest of the nation is having a grim time, not to mention the psychology of it when posting pics of your shooting whilst our vet shooters are on a 12 week curfew.I can gaurantee i couldn't help myself to end up talking rubish with a group of shooters if went to a ground and ill bet most would its human nature. My life is shooting and some weeks the only people outside of home i see are shooters,so i miss it as much as everyone else, but this virus is killing our nhs and we must protect it with everything we have and us not pulling the trigger is a tiny price.I feell for the grounds but they arnt on there own ,this battle will create many casualties.
Now hang on a moment...

Nobody’s advocating shooting in the current climate, nor are they suggesting the government’s instructions shouldn’t be complied with. We’re talking about the desperate steps ground owners took last weekend to save their businesses and the impact the closures will have upon the sport in the future.

Let’s leave the virtue signalling to social media.

If you've got plenty of fuel in your car I don't see a problem with going out for a drive.  If the sun stays out I might even go out for a buzz around with the top down on my old peugeot over the weekend.  A half hour run down to the coast and back (about 7 miles for me) enjoying the sunshine won't endanger anyone any more than my driving usually does!  It will go a long way in raising spirits before starting another week of working from home.

You could say that about lots of examples but the government advice is clear, no non essential travel

So anyone under the illusion that we are in lockdown. Listen up. I work for an manufacturing company who make an non- essential product

. Still in work. And whilst I appreciate the economic wheels must try to keep turning. ?????

accordingto gov advice we allowed to be here. Crazy. ?????

Stay safe all.

Jasper.
I feel your pain, I'm still working, domestic appliance repair, the company has just sent out email they've run out of hand sanitiser and paper roll, purchase your own and claim back.

Where I ask do I get that from in the current situiation 😄 oh and a limit to one face mask a day as their going to become scarce

Fine. I'll do my daily walk along the seafront. I then have a legitimate reason for travel.
And that is exactly the problem, most educated people understand slowing the spread in the next 2 weeks is critical to reduce the ratio for death rate significantly, its very simple stay at home and reduce the risk to a minimum for a couple of weeks, its easier said than done but if everybody took your approach, the roads and beach would be full, i will say no more

Probably wise you say no more.  I'll put up with the insinuation that I'm thick, but if it was a full on declaration I might be tempted to quote the letters after my name and add a few more (f.u.c.k o.f.f for example).  The roads being full would make not the slightest difference to people catching coronavirus.  Neither would a 10 minute walk along an almost deserted seafront maintaining appropriate separation from anyone else that happens to be out and about.  All the idiots queuing up to get into supermarkets are likely to be the main vector for the disease at the moment.

Sorry Bebo but Charliedog has a point. This was from today’s news:

https://www.itv.com/news/westcountry/2020-03-26/police-ban-driving-anywhere-to-walk-your-dog-or-exercise/

Let’s all breath.  So at work today (next door to the Royal Free Hospital, London), a large group perhaps 20 or so adults in a tight group taking roll call.  Their names sounded Spanish but that’s by the by.   A local lady, well known in the area for lots of “community projects” asked the leader to get the group to spread out and asked what they were doing.  They were cleaners for the hospital most likely agency workers.   The thing is as they were huddled together a police car drove by, slowed down, passenger looked and then drove on.  No stopping to see what was going on!  No uniform so the police had no idea who they were.   Thought they were supposed to be actively discouraging groups.

Have another news source that says it's fine.  Down to individual discretion I suppose.  Clearly, if I drove somewhere to walk the dog and there were loads of people I wouldn't stop.  But from what I'm hearing from locals, the seafront between Hastings and Bexhill is quiet.

I’ll quickly put my moderators hat on for this one as I’ve just had to delete one post that contained profanities. Please, let’s be polite. I know we’re all frustrated with the current situation but tempers are getting a little frayed.

This “debate” seems to be rumbling on all across the country.....

I have been walking the dog up to Cannock Chase from our house, daily for many many months. During the 2 mile walk to get there, I rarely see half a dozen people. This week I have seen many many more, not all of which understand social distancing, or any kind of understanding of how to behave. To reduce my stress levels, I drove 1.6 miles to another walk, and I saw 3 people, during my 90 minute walk....

So, according to some, what I did today is wrong, but I would suggest that my walk today was far safer for all.

Devon and Cornwall, and some Welsh forces are saying don’t travel, but I interpret that as stay local, and don’t drive 50 or 100 miles to a beach, not 5 minutes up the road.

It will be raining in a few days, so hopefully I will get back to walking safely, but in the meantime, I will make that journey in the name of safety.

Am I wrong?

Well, I'm genuinely loving all this at the moment so you guys feel free to have a pop at me to difuse any bickering sentiment! :D

I'm guessing this is why old farts said it was better in the fifties, etc., cos there's so few cars and people around where I live compared to normal it's lovely taking my toddler out for a slow stroll for a bit of fresh air or popping down to the supermarket to get him his milk and nappies. It's so quiet, it's a wonderful experience for me at the mo, listening to birds and just enjoying the lazy, warm days. Went to Frensham Pond this morning and saw about 6 people... had the whole beach to ourselves for about an hour! Brilliant!

On the flipside, we've been given a whole list of things we must and mustn't do for working with the public on fire calls and the like, and some of them just seem like nonsense, but we keep on turning out, so perhaps my rota days are just a lovely distraction from bureaucratic ideas that seem over the top because they need to be seen to do SOMETHING. And don't start me on the clapping thing... took about 5 confusing messages before someone explained what that was all about, but to me it just seems a bit daft. Let's just knuckle down and get on with sh1t, yeah? Good. CARRY ON! :D

Be sensible and just try to enjoy life like normal people. ;)

EDIT: Just been told the clapping thing is for the NHS only, not all emergency services, so crack on as it doesn't affect my lot, thankfully. :)

We've been waiting about 3 weeks for some santiser  dispensers and the like for work. Supermarkets have none. Maybe you should buy some for £25 for a little squirt from one of these rip off merchants . See how your company likes that. 😁👍.

So to add to the futility of it all some of our customers are closing . Were sending out product. It gets returned. So we're not getting any payment.I strongly suspect some of the company's we're sending product to will go bust without paying us . So the economic wheels are grinding to a halt. . All were doing is using up valuable resource. For a non essential product.

Now if we're knocking out ventilator parts or the like then it's  a very very different story.

Chin up.

Jasper.

Feeling the need to clean house windows this weekend....so must be quite bored as this will be the 4th Saturday on the trot I've not been shooting - definitely missing it now.    Was talking (video call) with one of my colleagues yesterday who went down with the virus last week - self-isolated at home - he said the fatigue, total exhaustion and brutal headaches were something he's not keen to repeat so defo don't want this if we can avoid it.

If one is outside it's so quiet, barely any traffic noise, no aircraft, no vapour trails in the sky - nothing.  Strangely I quite like it...
