why is there a shortage of maxam powder anyone have a clue

Maxam outdoors the part of the Maxam business that manufactured the powder and owned about six cartridge manufactures like Rio for example has been sold to the NSI (Nobel Sports) so Maxam powder is no more. Nobel Sports already manufactures lots of different powders, so the likes of CSB5 will become integrated into their portfolio of powders but probably not named CSB5 etc.

Maxam powders by name has gone, Maxam Outdoors sold to Sofisport Sa the parent company of NSI so as a powder brand it no longer exists.

All  interesting reading, as empires are built.

Nobel Sport already make lots of different powders like the Vectan range of powders some of which will have very similar burn rates to that of what was maxam e.g Vectan AS is very much like CSB5  probably Nobel Sports will just use the additional manufacturing capacity to make more of their current range which is well established and respected propellant.

2022 has been an interesting year within in the industry with Fiocchi buying B&P who make the F range of powders and buying Lyalvale Express and then NSI buying Maxam Outdoors which also included several cartridge brands.

I used vectan AS but moving over to hodgdon titewad that seems to be available
