So far so good, Taylor's really enjoying the shooting, managed to dodge most of the rain so far, he's won the sportrap colts and the pre lim colts and b class :) its a real shame there haven't been many colts for him to shoot against but I'm told that should change today, they have just left to shoot the 9am so fingers crossed for them, suns shingling at the moment....... hope you all have a great shoot :)

He's shooting great, nice to see some cracking scores from the colts and juniors :) future looks rosy :)

Loading up in a minute, ready for the off. I think we're in for a damp weekend with some sunny spells.

I'll see fellow squad members in a few hours.

Managed to avoid the heaviest of the down pours this morning, just a few spots early on and a stiff breeze. Fantastic setting with 2 courses set around a valley, the red (Zoli) course and the blue (Promatic) course.

Team Shootclay started on the Zoli course, stand 15. I thought it was a tricky course, dropping a few silly ones on the first 3 stands which I should really have straighted. Then we got into the meat of the course, a tricky driven battue, l-r battue going like hell and some stonking simo pairs. Some easier stands mixed in but still needed care, was very easy to chuck 1 or 2 of the easier ones away when under pressure to clean up.

We started bang on time of 11am but over ran by 20 mins due to a trap breakdown, which was sorted quite promptly by the promatic guys.

Only real complaint from my end would be as we are being bussed in from a satellite carpark and have to take all the gear we need with us, I would like to have seen a secure "left luggage" tent as they have at the game fair. Just so you can check your gun and bag in somewhere. I would have liked to have had a wander down and watch big George and Ben after I had shot and had a mooch round the blue course ready for tomorrow but the thought of getting the bus to the car dumping the gear and bus back put me off.

Was really tough going for a 63 today, but absolutely no complaints about the standard of targets from me, just didnt get the basics right and needed to get all the easy kills on my card and felt I was 6 or 7 light on silly drops.

Yep - would agree with that , some great targets on the Red Layout. Excellent sim pairs where the choice was yours but it was almost never right... I loved the driven battue - loads of leeed, and really enjoyed the rest of the course - excellent use of the topology.

Organisation was pretty good - buses working from the car park, 4x4's down to the layout - decent trade presence (although surprised not to see a general 'gear' shop), good food tent and well appointed loos etc.

Score wise - 59ex100 - a bit below my average, but it was a tricky course and I felt I shot well for the first half at least - dropped a few sillies after 'amen corner' as I shall christen stands 8 / 9 / 10 / 11 from now on. Now need a decent nights sleep, some healthy breakfast and then get set for the Blue Course.

shot the blue and not very well :( 74, to be very honest did not really enjoy much of it. felt there was to much emphasise on catching the shooter out , combine this with gusty conditions, and people will struggle ?

chipper cut loose with the krapoff and the viper 8's plus a few long range shells for the big targets to come in with a outstanding 88 ...no mean feat on the blue . think I will give it a miss tomorrow though they say the red was a bit easier ? good luck to you all.

Just a late note for perspective on the FITASC timing, day 1 ran like clockwork. 7 man squads, same times.

Problems do occur and it isn't always the course setters fault. There are referees that are slower than others and squads that are slower too. The culmination of these two can be disastrous.

Considering both ourselves and CPSA had to move infrastructure over night to a new venue believe me we were not impressed either.
I don't know the reason for the delay on Thursday, I do know it was unacceptable and to be honest I can't believe you can apportion any of the blame on the refs!!!

What were they doing, taking too long to decide if it was a loss or a kill, slow at writing, all the refs we had were faultless in their approach to their task and I cannot believe they could be responsible for more than a few seconds of the delays. Considering they had first squads on the first hoop at 08:30 in the morning and on the 4th layout didn't finish until 20:45, more than 12 hours later, factor in the weather conditions and I think whatever you paid them wasn't enough by half.

That really does take the bloody biscuit, blaming a 2 hour delay on slow refereeing :frown:

As it happened I caused a 5 min delay with a gun/cartridge malfunction, perhaps the were 23 other gun/cartridge malfunctions on the top Field layout to cause the 2 hour delay.

from what I heard 74 was not a bad effort on the blue! Red was tricky but not impossible.

Hmm cpsa seem to have linked the prelim full results to the wrong pdf :(

Trouble is those slow high birds are very wind effected, can be bit of a lottery, 2o plus yard varation on same targets

Day one results are on the cpsa website.

one less than i though i shot. obviously lost count of all them 0's

WTF 4 out of the top 5 in C are C* classified on the day. How the hell have they managed to classify an 80 on the blue in C??????????????

Did the red zoli course at 3pm, well 3.20..

Started on stand 1 and stuffed it with 4 ex 8. Frustration cost me the last pair, then I was a bit messy for a few more stands. I found it tricky and straighted nothing. Finished on a 70 which really could have been an 80 on a good day for me.

The blue seems harder, so I vow to go for 70+ on that..

I thought the round was dull. I know virgin ground is wanted, but frankly it was nowhere near as good as Westfield or Weston IMO.

Not sure Fuz but i think on the day classification is done on a certain number of stands and not the full circuit.

So if those stand's were all 6 shot stands and they shot 4 ex 6 on those stand's it would give them 66.6% average= C class

Thought I recognized the name, shoots in Holland with Glen. Banging in mid 90's to HG compacts over there!

Who you talking about Fuzz? Frank Hasekamp?

He is the euquivalent of AAA mate. Top 8 at the world Fitasc in Portugal, shot a massive score at Dutch Grand Prix but he was part of the organisation and course setting so his score did not count.

He shot 100 straight at Fitasc in Germany last week too! :)

Just checked it is!!! Ha ha ha ha you have been truely rodgered mate in C because 80 for him is not his standard expect 80+ on the next 100 and an easy win! ;-)

Great, bad enough shooting against lucky baggers like me without the dutch equivalent of digweed :( wonder if elvis has found any woodies................
