The website says £60 per hour inclusive of clays exclusive of cartridges but I booked an afternoon direct with Rob exclusive of clays and cartridges so I was going to get 3 hours of Rob's time plus whatever number of cartridges I shoot.  You choose.
Its as broad as it is long Robert. You pay for time, cartridges and clays one way or the other. Rob Eaton books his own time out when he works for the ground and vice-versa.

So robert how did you get on today ? :)

Well Rob was feeling a lot better today so was there to meet me at about 10:40 and we started with a brew and I had a piece of the fresh cream and jam sponge which hit the right spot!

We took a walk to the very far stand so that Rob could assess my current form.  Gun fit seemed reasonable and eye dominance was checked.  I do far to much target tracking before pulling away.  All day I was encouraged to reduce gun movement and taught the fundamental techniques to apply to the various clays such as teal, quartering, crossing and rabbits.  I have just spent the best part of 2 hours replaying the day and typing up notes of it all so that I can look back on it whenever I need.

We fired a few clays at the pattern plate and Rob felt that I was shooting with too flat a rib resulting in a 50:50 pattern as opposed to 60:40 split above/below so at break time we adjusted my adjustable comb up a tad so that I could see more rib which would raise the majority of the pattern a tad above the barrels.

There were some difficult targets but all could be hit with the right technique and leeed and it was extemely satisfying hitting the log crossers up on the top of the bank which Rob said were 75 yards away.

After 210 shells I started to deteriorate with recoil fatigue and by then it was 4pm and time to call it a day.  Fabulous fun and Rob is a great teacher who has certainly raised my game no end today.  I can have a tendency to flinch on occasion resulting in either a poor shot or the gun not going off so Rob suggested trying 21 gram Hull Comp X which were very smooth compared to my Diana 28 gram which are quite harsh.  He also felt that the trigger could do with being farther away but it is not adjustable so perhaps the front of the comb can be removed to allow my hand to sit farther back.

Looking forward to th next challenge but I shall be back to Wylye without doubt. :)

Phew, long day. Good idea to write it up. I'm sure Robert told you to go and practice what you learned to make it stick. All the best with it.

Well done Robert, just keep putting cartridges through the gun and practise, Practise, PRACTISE.
