Stonestile Clay Shooting Club.  No breakfast, have to pee in the woods, it's muddy as hell.  Lots of fun though.

Other than that, Sporting Targets is fantastic but too far for regular visits from me.
My sentiments exactly. Stonestile is my family home and I love that patch of ground more than any other.

As for an away day, sporting targets for me too.  Fantastic ground with great targets. Warm welcome in the club, good food and facilities.  Only go there for biannual coaching session but if it was closer i'd be a member.

I went to Humberside shooting ground last year in Brandesburton.  I thought that was cracking ground too.

Was this thread about shooting grounds or sporting only !!!

Again Beverley has it all and the hardest targets

Don't you only see the inside of a shed when you shoot trap?

Guess its about how nice the shed is

You need to get out more, there is a D class for you at trap if you dare try it

Orston is good for facilties, but lacks a little terrain and a high tower.

Grimsthorpe is awesome for targets and terrain but the facilities are poor (new clubhouse etc in progress but a little way off yet, also high tower in progress)

Sporting Targets I've been to once, facilties good, high towers excellent but the place isn't dissimilar to a maze to navigate around.

West Midlands Shooting Ground is the nicest I've been to.

I suspct a lot of people will naturally like the good grounds that are local to them.

Can we start a 'Worst Ground' thread where you shouldn't eat the food....or could that be a bit libellous ?

Beverly has to be the best ground its got everything
IF you are a Skeety or Trappie  !

Tried it....shed wasn't very nice so i haven't been back!
I don't get it???

Why have a great shed and rubbish layouts/ targets..

Beverley tales dome beating for actual shooting facilities. Grub good. Shed much improved in the last 12 months.

Fauxdegla also a great ground.

All the grounds I prefer hold weekly comps. Doesn't mattrr if reg or not but those that do tend to be run better.

Grounds I don't like too much ( but any port in a storm ) are those with a few stands which are just have a pot shot allys where they turn a blind eye people shoot 3 shots with auto's and stand outside the cages with two people shooting at the same target. Even when their own notices prohibit it.

What is the best shooting ground for the following in your own opinion?

  • Best food
  • Best facility's
  • good carparking and well kept ground
  • Most difficult targets
Just wondering where people prefer to shoot
Four separate questions,  have only been to twenty odd registered grounds, others more so, however doubt if many of us have covered the length and breadth of the country so its all a bit limited, however from my travels

1- Food sorry don't eat meals at grounds, would say I'm not a big eater anyway and find meals before activity a distraction,

2-  EJC by a nose (big nose),

3- Coleys, tarmac just tarmac, grounds always appear well managed

4- for me its Westfield, its the targets in big open skies with little to no reference points that do my swede, judging by the scores in B & C I'm not the only lower class shooter that gets chewed up / beaten up and spat out here, rarely go, probably only when Ive been naughty and need punishment, shame its a struggle as its within 15 minutes of my front door.

If I could only go to one ground it would be EJC, seems to cater for every type of shooter without ceremony nor fuss  the place always seems well in control and almost laid back whilst ensuring everything runs seamlessly, shame its 1.5 hours away so no its not even close to being local.

Hodnet (West Midlands Shooting Ground) is the best ground in the U.K.

Look how fast the British sold out because it is there, fantastic terrain and target setting to match.

Not yet been myself but it does get glowing reports from those that have been there. Hopefully I'll get there in the near future.

I don`t have much experience of many different grounds, but i like Churchills,, nice and compact, good variety. not too keen on open field ranges, like Horne, a few bales to hide machines is welcome too.

most small shoots have a nice atmosphere, like Mill farm at Pevensey, Willow farm, Nothium , and Woody`s little shoot is good, near Battle. i  must say  i think a few grounds overprice themselves a bit, but then they are run as a business, not a charity.

When you feel that you are 'Yourself'  it is defo worth a visit. They have a cracking shop too !

I have not felt myself for a while........................I think it may be due to temporarily going blind last year  !
