Fuz I would guess that because the weather is looking kinder for tomorrow and wouldn't be surprised if a couple more 100s are added!

Ray, I can confirm everything your hearing is correct; but I would be interested in hearing your views after shooting it; hopefully you'll have a better day than me!

Well hopefully I can continue my decent shooting today scored 194/200 in skeet & Doubles.

If I can come away from SC with at least a 97 I'll be happy !!! :hi:

Well you was right about a couple more Tons coming in, I was a bit annoyed twice missing High 2, which is not a bogey target for me, otherwise

I would have come in with a 99.

Weather wasn't tooo bad for us, we shot at 9am, the only problem apart from a bit of wind was the Sun shining right into our eyes from the early

morning direction, targets overall were not too bad, some low house birds were a bit low, but all hittable, I see what you mean about those Olympic skeet Nets being a distraction !!!

I'm hearing all sorts of problems down there, Olympic skeet nets still erected, targets from low house not even reaching stand 1
not looking forward to shooting it to be honest !!! :rabbi:
That sounds about right :( the last BO ESK I shot there the low was hitting the deck by the peg, let alone stand 1. After 2 crap big ESK shoots there I have done the same as Snipey and don't bother going there which is a shame. Its a good 3-4 hours each way from home.

Having shot the British Open Skeet yesterday I was looking for words to sum up the experience.

There were many words, most too rude to print on this forum.

It was a JOKE!!

In over 20 years of competitive shooting at all levels I've never seen a ground treat Skeet Shooters with such contempt.

3 members of the CPSA were in attendance and didn't have a clue about the setting up and rules (their rules) on English Skeet.

Whatever the dicipline, the shooters expect the rules to be followed and the correct shooting environment to be provided.

Not asking too much is it??

I think it's just sad that a Premier Championship should attract this level of criticism. I am sure that for many this is the highlight of their shooting year. Surely the organisers could have ensured that everything was set up properly so that the shooters expectations were fulfilled.

It's not exactly rocket science!!

When I got to SC on Sunday I found a notice at the booking in office window saying "no steel shot to be used" and me with a bootfull of 24/9 White Gold Steel!! I do NOT recall seeing anything on the CPSA web site when I booked in about no steel shot. I had to go and buy a slab of 28/9.5 lead from the gun shop. Did anyone know that steel wasn't allowed?

I normally shoot steel and have shot steel at SC a month or so ago as they said it was fine.

I didnt realise that there was a steel ban on yesterday until I saw the stupid little sign on the notice board saying it was disallowed.

Luckily I always take lead too and can shoot both, so it wasn't a problem for me yesterday. Shooters should have been told when they booked in rather than a piddly little sign, as if you missed the sign and then went down to shoot with steel, what then?

Other than that, and only having the use of one eye, I enjoyed myself.

I didn't think you were allowed to restrict cartridges at championships unless it is a H&S issue or affects a Site of Specific Interest? I could be wrong though?

I agree with you 100 % Simon , I think in this case the issues are entirely the fault of the CPSA as they should of made sure the OSK nets were dropped , When i said to Paul Fallon 'you think these things would be hinged ' I was amazed when he said they are 'but they're to feckin lazy to move them '(or words to that effect ,unusual for Paul ) .As Nick M  said once the comp had started (Friday) its to late to change or alter them as i could give an unfair advantage to the following shooters . Even more annoying is the fact that i have since been told that the Cpsa received an email from a shooter 2 weeks ago airing his concern over the OSK  nets being there (with the BO ESK coming up ) .It would appear by this weekends debacle they dont give a flying hoot (or as you stated have no idea of the rules ) .We had a complete and utter farce a couple of years ago at Beverley (Eng Team Sel. shoot ) you would think in this age of contracts ,suing ect. ect  that when these grounds put in for these major shoots (which they  do for the money ) someone at the Cpsa would make them put a cash bond up as surety, that  the event would be (within reason )run  properly with proper (the right discipline) refs and the event to be run by the rules of the discipline , it's not brain surgery is it !! ................................perhaps it is !!

I am sure there is a £3 charge that the CPSA can claim back from the ground if they don't meet the requirements of the championship contract. I'd have to check on that though.

Ned/Gee was I the only one that noticed the super steel boxes in the skeet stand bins?

It's just a total farce, for what it's worth I'll complain; but I expect the board are to busy feathering their own nest to worry about issues like this this!

In the future they just need to let a decent/considerate ground have these type of shoots e.g Nottingham and that's a 4 plus hour drive from me!

You might be right there Julia , think they might've done that to Beverley ,where does the money go though ..................................................................back to the CPSA !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Reading this I'm glad I took the £47 hit and bailed on it midweek. at least I saved 40 quid of diesel and having to buy lead shells when I got there  :fie:

Out of interest, these O skeet nets. I am assuming they are there for the clay to hit, so they dont need to use line judges on OSK? How were the referees calling it if a target hit the net without being shot at? No target or target lost?

Would be a bit arsed off if I swung onto the second in a pair to nail it 3ft away from the distance marker only to see it hit the net and called loss  :fie:  Conversely, if you are not on it you could (if not as honest as would be expected) let it hit the net and claim a no bird  :spiteful:

The nets are there to stop the clay going into the next range, as they are on a different trap spring and go a lot further.
