Am with BASC now but they seem expensive and the quarterly mag is getting worse IMO !
But the insurance is good and they do a huge amount to support all fieldsports. The CPSA magazine is not worth much either, and they are only interested in clay shooting (allegedly?). Buy one of the main magazines for decent, interesting articles.

Basc are a lot more supportive of their members, any help you need basc are on your side, I wouldn't trust the cpsa to look after a house plant!
+3 best fire arms team in the business if your not shooting competivly cpsa is a waste of money IMO I regret joining if I am honest ....

there's a difference in the way they pay out also I can't remember the wording but BASC was better out of the 2

If cost is important then CPSA Clubman Membership is only £44 and covers all shooting activities (shotgun, rifle, airgun) just not registered competitions.

Is Clubman membership the way to go Richard? I am not too sure about that.

If we build a membership base of people who do not compete, then that surely has to impact on the ability to hold great championships (if a large amount of members do not shoot competitions). It also means that there is nothing tying them into the sports future.

We should be targeting people to join who actively want to compete in competitions....unless we want to end up only as a hobby sport....in my honest opinion....for what it is worth. Otherwise we will find a shortage for our national teams....and less medals will impact on reduced funding.

BASC! do a search it's been explained already
I couldn't find it and I'm awesome at finding things.

Here...I found this picture of the CPSA "Mission Statement"

No Skeet that is not good....because it is emotional.

Factual questions should be asked and factual replies should be give (hopefully without spin).

I cannot wait for the 'explanations' in Pull......if we get one.

I will be watching very carefully to what our CEO says.......from a business perspective.....and how this change of Chairman is justified after such a short time for Mr Jellicoe to have had a chance to do the job.

Then there is only one way forward, one level of membership at a fair price.

General membership   £50   (covers everything)

Simple really

Well if the CPSA and its members only want people in who compete then I think its very narrow minded and on that basis as a none competitor I will take take my hard earnt elsewhere and spend a little more with the BASC.

With that attitude am suprised CPSA exist. BASC should be able to put the CPSA out of a job if they wanted to. Surely with such an anti-gun ownership attitude in the UK we should all stick together and look after each other rather than spiltting us up.

Yes but the Cpsa is primarily for competitive shooters whereas basc is for those other sorts of shooters. So the choice is easy really.

Without a strong base of competition shooters...you go no where....no medals won abroad means no funding.....means staying small.

Like it or not....competition shooters are essential.....it is a real sport after all..!

I have no problem with people only being interested in a fun hobby....but that does not bring in the funding or the glories to make the sport more than just a little game.

......true story.

The percentage of registered shooters are the minority in the CPSA, if the ordinary shooters who shoot for "fun" walked away from the CPSA, after a while there would be no more CPSA.

True story.

Already said same. Basing membership on clubman is mad. They can walk away at anytime. It is only a hobby to them.
